Pep Guardiola to Leave Man City After 2023

Don't care what anyone says, if and when he does leave, it will be a loss for the Premier League.

I feel like the only way anyone can think this is if they’ve not gone a season where their club picks up 97 points and they still don’t win the fucking league.

Chelsea, PSG, and Man City imo all deserve what happened to their original prototype - Blackburn: sold to dodgy chicken salesmen and relegated to obscurity.

Well that's another topic really.  Not saying I don't agree with how they have evolved but that's not fair on Pep for me and shouldn't be the focus of the discussion.

I know he get's haters and this 'Fraudiola' tag but the guy is clearly more than that, absolute pioneer and deserves his respect as one of the best.

Pep pushed the bar that high with City that he brought the very best out of your Liverpool team and in the end, you beat them by being better than them and winning your first league title in years.

I refuse to give him that respect. Might be the most influence manager of this era - but there’s only one bald man I respect: @DeadLinesman

This, 100%. The man revolutionised the world game, you have reserve teams in Australia and teams in League 2 trying to play out from the back in the same way his teams do after watching his Barce sides.

And it’s also some of the most boring, dour football you can watch at every level as well.

He's obviously the reason Man City are so dominant domestically and why you now need to aim for 100 points to win the league. I don't think they win three of the last four without him. I wonder how many will feel the same as you above though if Man City win the next two titles?

I don't make much of a secret of preferring Klopp, and I think there's some truth that Guardiola's style necessitates that he manage super-clubs, but it's undeniable that Guardiola has raised the standard of what super clubs are capable of.

When his teams click, I honestly think they reach a level of consistent, game-winning ability which has not been seen before. There's been teams stacked with world-class talent in every position before - Madrid at points, AC Milan, etc - but no matter what, they could always have patchy moments of form, and stumble here and there.

Guardiola has come close to working out how to get a world-class team to consistently and comfortably put-away almost every team in the league, week-in week-out, year-in year-out.

He has raised the level to the point where almost every game is a must-win if you want to win the league, and so far the only manager to match that level is Klopp.

@El Profesor would the Brazillian FA consider someone like Pep if he said he was interested? I'd imagine yes

Yes.

But I'm not sure he would be willing to coach our NT after his longtime assistant, Domènec Torrent, was fired in less than 4 months at Flamengo.

Coaching in Brazil is not easy.

Maybe we're reading into the comments he made a little too much. He does want to coach a National Team and I highly doubt he'd be willing to take on a project where he wasn't going to be working with the best in the world after he's had his fill at club level. Would be very interesting to see how he does in a setup where he can't acquire players to fix technical issues with the way he wants to setup.

Pep clarifies comments on City future

The Spaniard has now pointed out, however, that he merely said he will take a break from the game when he leaves City and did not give a date.

Guardiola said: "I am not thinking to leave after two years. I can leave in two months if the results aren't good or the organisation isn't happy with me. I can leave in three months or five years.

"What I said is after my period at City, I will take a break. It can be in one month, two years, five years. Right now, I don't have reasons to leave."

The only way City let him go is if he stops winning league titles. The CL is "his" ambition and if he is presented an opportunity for a sure-shot at it he'll personally ask to leave.

Don't really see how he could have a better shot at the CL really, our team is one of the best in the world  ..the main problem with the CL so far is Pep over thinking his tactics and going with some crazy formations and line ups instead of just playing our normal game, we just need a big striker to give us more attacking options, Haaland will be perfect

I dont disagree that you'll do have a team to do it but if he doesn't achieve it in the next two years would you blame him for leaving?

If he doesn't do it, it will be he's fault though, maybe we will lose patience with him :4_joy:

Do you think he'll win the CL in the next two years? I will say its not for lack of spending or bringing players in but as a club you'll are missing something in the attacking third to make you'll unbreakable under pressure. Teams like Bayern, Liverpool, Chelsea have lifted it in that time with two of those teams losing title races to you'll in the process.

Without a big striker to give us another way to open up defenses it will be difficult, especially when the top teams defend deep and hit us on the counter attack, we cant always walk the ball into the net and Pep needs to stop over thinking the tactics, he played 3 DM in one important game and lost :4_joy:
