Far from it. He is still a heck of a player. On Maradona. that´s also an interesting point. He was the best player of his era, but it´s a myth that the Napoli he played was a bad team. Stats mean fuck all when before he could create chances by himself, and now he relies on others to create the chances for him. I'm not saying he's a bad player, I am saying he is finished, as he's just too inconsistent these days and again needs to really rely on chances made by his teammates on the contrary to before. Finished players also tend not to have such marketing power that a world class team feels compelled to keep them and supply them with bucketload of chances. Of course he is not as dynamic as he once was, but he has adapted his play style and is still unbelievably effective. Still easily one of the best two players in the world. Now, how can you rank him above the likes of Neymar, Messi who are geniuses on the ball or Kroos and Modric who are all around game changers. Ronaldo has nothing that matches them other than good finishing. Before he was a great all around player, now he is limited. Thus, for me he is finished. Don't let those 44 goals mask you.
