He has every right to defend himself, but if those answers of his to the questionnaire that was done back in 2009 (during the settlement) are proven to be true, then he can have no complaints if this blows up. They clearly indicate that he raped her. As for her taking the money. It was explained by the Spiegel reporter how she had a lawyer (who dealt with traffic violations) up against lawyers from big firms hired by Ronaldo (whose first task was to send PIs to dig up dirt on her), plus she was scared of the backlash from his massive fan following. I can understand an ordinary citizen been scared into taking the hush money. The metoo movement has its problems, but one of its pluses is that it has definitely given courage to plenty of women to come forward. Maybe she feels safer now to come forward. Well said mate. That is unquestionably a very positive aspect of the movement. And it has brought reform to sleazy practices in Hollywood.. But there's been negatives a plenty too. The vulnerability of individuals to unfounded accusations has never been higher. It's also been sad for many people who's heroes have turned to villains, has eroded the power of celebrity culture, and has further emboldened the worst aspects of our rush to judgement culture. 6666
I just hope the case is given the best chance possible to deliver the truth rather than it being presented in a skewed, gender biased manner. The chances of that happening on social media is of course extremely low as there's very little integrity when it comes to social media justice but hopefully that doesn't affect decisions made in the real world. The phase where we go through people saying "A woman lied in this other case so this is definitely a lie" and people saying "These other women were raped, listen to their experiences and just assume that's what happened here as well" now awaits us. SirBalon
Either they come up with some more money to keep her quiet for another set of years or this looks like it's going to get pretty messy. EA have already taken him off their header and there's talk of other associated companies separating themselves with the brand name Cristiano Ronaldo. Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted June 5, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted June 5, 2019 The Rape Lawsuit Brought against Cristiano Ronaldo Was Dropped World | June 5, 2019, Wednesday The rape lawsuit brought against Juventus F.C. star Cristiano Ronaldo is dropped, media reports in the United States reported. A confirming notification was handed over by a court in Las Vegas, Nevada last month. It is unclear whether the Portuguese professional footballer has reached an out-of-court settlement with the accuser Kathryn Mayorga, writes bloomberg.com. In March it was reported that Juventus won’t take part in the International Champions Cup to avoid a possible retention of Ronaldo by the US authorities. We remind you that on September 27 last year, teacher Kathryn Mayorga filed a complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted by Ronaldo back in 2009. At that time Mayorga was working as a budding model. Ronaldo publicly denied the allegations and never filed a response to the lawsuit. Anyway, the scandal seriously hurt the image of the Portuguese and the shares of Juventus fell by 15%. https://www.novinite.com/articles/197642/The+Rape+Lawsuit+Brought+against+Cristiano+Ronaldo+Was+Dropped

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted July 23, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted July 23, 2019 Ronaldo will not face charges over an alleged rape. Football star Cristiano Ronaldo will not face charges after being accused of sexual assault, US prosecutors say. Kathryn Mayorga, 34, had alleged that the Juventus player raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009. She reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with the Portuguese star in 2010 but sought to reopen the case in 2018. He denied the allegations. In a statement on Monday, Las Vegas prosecutors said the claims could not "be proven beyond reasonable doubt". The Clark County District Attorney's office said the victim reported an assault in 2009 but refused to state where it had happened or who the attacker was. As a result, police were unable "to conduct any meaningful investigation". In August 2018, Las Vegas police investigated the alleged crime again at the request of the victim. But the statement added: "Based upon a review of information at this time, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Therefore, no charges will be forthcoming." German weekly magazine Der Spiegel first published a story about the allegation last year. It said that in 2010, she reached an out-of-court settlement with Ronaldo involving a $375,000 (£288,000) payment for agreeing never to go public with the allegations. Ms Mayorga's lawyer said she had been inspired to re-open the case by the #MeToo movement. Ronaldo has not denied that the two met in Las Vegas in 2009, but said that what happened between them was consensual. At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Manchester United, and about to join Real Madrid, where he spent the next nine years. Ronaldo moved to Juventus last July. He has won the Ballon d'Or - awarded to the world's best footballer - in 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-49078808
