And lots that doesn't make sense. Like Luke going to brood over losing one jedi by sitting for a decade on a island on a lone planet. To think that the initial plan for Ghostbusters (1984) was to star John Belushi, Eddie Murphy and possibly even John Candy… Oh man, John Candy. Any film would be all the richer for having that great man’s presence on screen! It's not as good as Mafia hits such as Goodfellas but it's still a really good watch with thanks to Robert de Niro and Joe Pesci in the lead roles, as brutal as I expected and a really good, captivating story. If I'm being brutally honest it would have been better being condensed into two hours as it is a bit of a marathon but that's just me. 7/10 I think Goodfellas is a better movie, but I personally prefer Casino; there's more nuance, it's more aesthetically pleasing (I love the backdrop of Las Vegas) and if it somewhat lacks in script compared to Goodfellas, it certainly makes up for it in depth of characters and social dynamics. Also, I prefer more screen time with de Niro and Pesci, not a big fan of Liotta. Both are 10/10 for me though. Anyway, the last movie I watched: They Call Me Trinity (1970). A Terence Hill and Bud Spencer classic, brilliantly entertaining, unpretentious and funny spaghetti western parody with a lot of action, shootouts, brawls, silly cheap jokes and over the top characters. It's amazing how many great comedy actors have come up through Saturday night live. Everyone from Chevy Chase to Tina Fey and everyone in between. You’re right, that show is almost a rite of passage for US comedians. I had a brief Wikipedia browse after watching Ghostbusters, because I’m a geek like that That was where I discovered the roles were written with Belushi, Murphy and Candy in mind, as well as: "The original story as written by Aykroyd was much more ambitious—and unfocused—than what would be eventually filmed; in Aykroyd's original vision, a group of Ghostbusters would travel through time, space and other dimensions taking on huge ghosts (of which the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man was just one of many)." Twilight for instance is horrible but I enjoyed it immensely because of how bad it is. As a film it is a 3/10, as a bad film my enjoyment was about 8/10. Dave Posted April 21, 2017 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Rogue One 6/10 I think this suffers because I liked the last Star Wars film and every Star Wars geek I know went on about how this film was so much better and a massive improvement. I'm sure it was much better in cinema but on DVD I spent the whole film waiting to be enticed and engrossed and it never really happened. Fantastic beasts and where to find them - 8/10 im not a Harry Potter fanatic so agreed to watch it with my girlfriend and i was surprised by how much I enjoyed it and got in to the film. (1971) The sequel of the original Trinity, this movie is the quintessential spaghetti western parody and possibly the best teamwork of Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill. It's normally hard to find a movie which is better than the original, but this is definitely the case - great slapstick action, silly jokes, and plenty of memorable scenes. Why Him? 7.5/10 - It's a 'lol' film but one you'd watch on your own. In a group you'd find it very underwhelming. Builds up slowly, and I found it hard to like the grieving cop, but that end was so rewarding. It makes you uncomfortable, which is a sign of a really good movie.
