Cicero Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Our defensive transition is awful. Kovacic and Jorginho stepping and leaving so many gaps in the middle that’s continuously exploited.

Administrator Stan Posted August 24, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 24, 2019 Norwich will be quite entertaining to watch this season. Their open style lends itself well to a neutral watching. Both teams to score in their games would be a decent bet this season for any gambler. I know it was said in the Liverpool game as well but their style hasn't changed one bit despite the heavy defeat.
Harry Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 This Chelsea team has some potential, but they also look like a team not guaranteed to finish Top 6.
Cicero Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 That was awful from Kepa for Norwich’s second. His positioning will always be suspect. A lot of our defensive issues would be solved if both Jorginho and Kovacic weren’t so committed to pressing into challenges.

Michael Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 This has been a very open game, there's definitely going to be more goals. I think Norwich should finish somewhere in mid-table this season. They are a joy to watch when they attack and despite their defensive naivety at times, they seem to have enough quality to cement a respectable position in the Premier League table, come the end of the season.
Cicero Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Brace for Tammy. Like I said, I’d be best if Lampard continues to start him Now stay compact FFS
Machado Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Norwich will be difficult to beat at home. Top 10 side.
Cicero Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Fuck sake, that was a needed 3 points. Very difficult match although I felt Norwich's goals were our own doing. Overjoyed for Tammy. Bags a brace and no doubt it was down to the confidence Lampard gave him. Needs a manager that believes in him and hopefully the goals keep coming. Felt we were in total control that entire 2nd half. Issues are still there in defensive transition and both Kovacic + Jorginho leaving gaps in their over commitment to their press. Something we saw under Sarri as well so hopefully Lampard sees this. 3 points next weekend sets up for a nice international break, with CHO and James expecting to be back. Only took a transfer ban to finally get this to happen.
carefreeluke Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Regarding youth, part of the frustration with our club that goes overlooked as well (particularly in recent years) is that it’s not just giving the youth players a chance that’s been the problem, added to that frustration is the annoyance that these youngsters are better than the senior players that are given the opportunities.

A lot of bringing young players in isn’t just a question of their ability, it’s a question of their mentality and confidence - given that so many Chelsea managers get the sack so quickly, it’s hard for them to put faith in kids. It’s been said a lot on here, but the transfer plan is a blessing in disguise for your kids
Spike Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 There are other factors in play. Many just haven’t been good enough till the current crop. All of a sudden Chelsea has five youth players in the team. Many others have been given chances but whether due to weak mentality (Josh McEachran) or tragedy (Sam Hutchinson) they just haven’t made it.
Bluewolf Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Well, that was much needed... Pleased for Tammy today, that must be a burden off his shoulders now also for Mount who looks like he could be a real quality player if given a decent run in the side this season. I appreciate that it's going to be a bit of an up and down season this one but there will never be a better time for some of these youngsters to be laying a claim for a starting spot once the transfer window opens back up.. End to end stuff from what I saw on the highlights, both sides defences were all over the place at times and much work is needed there... Kepa at fault for the second goal in my opinion That Pukki ( Pooky ) sounds like a character game card from a Pokemon set...
cb_96 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Mount was excellent today for Chelsea, Abraham clinical as well Norwich played some really good stuff, moved the ball quick and hard to defend against, just couldn't keep it up all game. Thought Godfrey should've been sent off for his challenge on Mount like
True Blue Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Again excellent going forward and we looked to conceded every time Norwich attacked in the first half. I the second a much more compact defense and a hard earned win. At 1-2 Christensen was denied a great header which would probably put the game to bed. Sheffield United at the Bridge next, with the International break around the corner. After we return we will have far more options and depth at our disposal. Happy for Tammy and Mount as they are shinning for the club.
