I have enjoyed the "if they can come for the President they can come for any of us" takes as if that's a bad thing .2 points

Imo pundits getting in weird hot takes early in the season is a good omen considering past seasons.1 point

In all honesty you have so many good players, that only 5 or 6 of them are getting the game time they want. I applaud Sterling for leaving to get regular game time, too many of City's players are content to put up with Pep's rotation in exchange for winning titles.1 point

I don't think we're ever likely to overhaul the midfield and I'm not sure players like Bissouma and Phillips are what we'd really want. Personally, I want a player that replaces some of the dynamism Ox used to give our midfield - and that we sometimes see from Keita... although nowhere near as often enough. I'm also not that convinced Tielemans would be the right fit for us either - I think he's quality when he's up for it, but the way he played for Leicester last season when they needed him to come through big for them was... pretty disheartening I'm sure for most Leicester fans. He looked like he actively didn't give a fuck about their goals for the season... and that's not really the sort of mentality you want to have around a side that's looking to compete for as much as they can. We can't really afford mistakes and signing players for the sake of signing players is no guarantee of success - our strategy has worked for the most part so far. This has been the best era of supporting Liverpool in my life and probably yours. Yes, it's annoying we have to compete with a side like City that has just incredible depth... but we can't afford to spend a lot and be wrong without really feeling the consequences on the pitch. So you're probably not ever going to see us make sweeping overhauls to a whole position over one transfer window - we'll make probably one or two big signings and a few squad/youth signings while Klopp is at the helm, imo. And it's not so bad, we've got a good squad - we've got young players we're looking to develop to compete at a high level - and we've got seasoned veterans. We're fortunate enough to be in a position where we can spend a lot for really highly rated players in Europe - we just don't have an endless pile of cash to draw from and that's shit, but we're still in a much better position than most other clubs. But we can't suddenly act like we're City because we're trying to compete with them.1 point

It just seems that Liverpool FC's transfer policy is fairly blatant at this point, it's all well and good saying it's obvious that Bellingham was never going to move but the club wouldn't have made a move for him had there not have been reasonable grounds to suspect it may happen. The club have identified a position that needs filling and have tried and failed with two high profile targets...who else is there to sign? If Bellingham is a guarantee to sign next Summer will those alternative targets be a better acquisition than Bellingham? Does it make sense to sign a lesser target for immediate cover? Bellingham has 10+ years in him at this point to play at the highest level and then more. You either get all of that or you get half of it and a very big transfer fee. Who is it that you bring to the club instead this Summer? In the mean time you are able to change your formation, create more flexibility in the midfield. There is no reason why Nunez can't play up top as a number 9 with Firminho, Carvalho or Elliot playing behind him with Henderson/Fabinho behind that. I don't really see what the panic is, you have strength in depth and the personnel to change formations to cover for the loss of an incoming world class midfielder.1 point

I also love the fact that the retrumplicans and the infant himself keep refering to this as "unprecedented" like thats somehow a defense. Obviously its unprecedented, theres never been this big of a crook and grifter in charge of the country before1 point

It doesn't sound like you haven't learned from that season though, it sounds like you've tried to sign two separate high profile centre mids and missed out on them (one for the foreseeable, the other for this season). But transfer strategy's are hard and sometimes you have to wait 6 months - 12 months longer than you'd want for your target to come in, because the player you're signing needs to fit the bill for a 5-6 year period, not just the next 6 months.1 point

I would agree with that score @Cicero I thought it was a big return to form for the series. I’ve been watching them all this week and this was the best since the original.1 point

Raise a glass for our very beloved @nudge, for it is her Birthday today! Let's keep it simple and not make a big thing out of it though.1 point

Prey - 7/10 Very well worth the hype and fits right in with the Predator Franchise. Has its flaws but a brilliantly directed film visually and well written. The story revolves around a young woman named Naru, a skilled Comanche warrior protecting her tribe from a a highly evolved alien that hunts humans for sport, fighting against the wilderness and fur traders to keep her people safe. The film accurately portrays the hunting culture of the ancient Comanche people. The Predator in this film looks like one of those Wolf hybrids we saw in Predators which was interesting. Really hope they continue this route where they stick a Predator into a certain timeline.1 point

Thanks everyone, I don’t feel as alone as I did when I wrote it all out. It’s easy to fall into negativity and it thrives on itself. Today I’m forcing myself to be positive, optimistic, decided to make changes. Even if they aren’t permanent they are short term goals I can achieve, and I think it is important ti set little tasks for yourself to stay busy and improving. There is a beer festival for work coming up, I was super excited to go about a month ago, but now it’s causing me nothing but stress. So I put my foot down and said I’m not going, I have to take care of myself and being around a bunch of pissheads isn’t for the best. I’m gonna cut down on the grog, for the time being, I hadn’t been drinking much but I feel like it’s a easy trap. In a three way tie of morality, frugality, and health, in decide to also cut down on meat consumption and eat more vegetables and fruits. It’s been about 5 days so far, so let’s see how low it lasts. In better news though I’ve lost over 5kg since I started at work. @DeadLinesman Huge respect to you mate, nothing but admiration shouldering burdens like that. Be careful mate, don’t burn out, take care of yourself as well. @Whiskey I guess we are probably more alike then we realise. From what I’ve read it’s like reading something I could have wrote myself. I’ve got your back too mate, sincerely.1 point

Don’t give up mate, that’s the biggest thing. And talking about it really does help. At the end of the day, we kind of ARE like a family here. Probably spend more time with you cunts than anyone else, so really don’t want to see anyone in this position. If it helps, I’ve got a Mrs that is going through something similar right now and as much as I’m trying to hold it together, I’m the bread winner with a full time job, 3 kids, 2 sets of chicken pox, 2 stomach bugs and a wife that’s pretty much useless at the moment due to her mental health. It’s absolutely suffocating, but being on here is the escape from the reality. The next step is what happens one you put the technology down and step back into the ‘real world’. I would definitely suggest getting back on some form of medication alongside therapy. You only need the medication to take the edge off. Being a zombie was definitely wrong and not the way forward. Secondly, family. Don’t think of this as blood only. Do you have any good mates socially that you’re close with? Any footy/hockey/sports you do that can take your mind of things? Anything to take the edge off that feeling that you’re alone in the world. Honestly, we’re all open as staff to a DM if you need a chat. But more than just staff, as an ‘internet mate’, I’m here for you as well. We’ve all got our own shit going on, but it should never get to the point where we’re coasting through life not feeling anything. I genuinely think Covid and the situations we’ve faced as a society has changed us as a species, and not for the better unfortunately. The world seems to be going tits up and subconsciously, I think it’s getting to all of us no matter what country/continent we live in/on. Head up chief.1 point

I have no sympathy for any player that joined them this summer. Raphinia, Christianson and Kounde all had good contracts lined up for them at Chelsea but they chose to put on there birdbox cloth over there eyes and chase the Barcelona fantasy that died when Neymar left. The same with Lewandowski who 'fancied a new challenge'. All you have to do is look at how legends of the club have been treated, the mental transfer spending, the way they're forcing out players with smear campaigns and the Frenkie De Jong story to know something is seriously wrong. It needs one of the Governing Bodies to impose some form of transfer ban to save the club from itself. This gambling of a Super League that only three clubs seem willing to participate in at present is crazy and something UEFA shouldn't be best pleased about. If the stories about Martin Braithwaite holding out for his full pay are true then he should be hailed as a hero. He was signed in completely unreasonable circumstances and the smear campaign pointing out his wealth through his property investments is completely unreasonable. If they release him because he won't take a pay cut without paying his wages he's going to get a lot more than the club owe him now at court.1 point
