I’ve still got my lorus from my 13th bday. Probably cost $100. One of my most treasured possessions. Wouldn’t ever spend lots of money on a watch (or sunglasses, another thing I don’t understand).2 points

I'm glad you specified exactly what that was John because if you hadn't, I'd have been stumped2 points

Prey - 7/10 Very well worth the hype and fits right in with the Predator Franchise. Has its flaws but a brilliantly directed film visually and well written. The story revolves around a young woman named Naru, a skilled Comanche warrior protecting her tribe from a a highly evolved alien that hunts humans for sport, fighting against the wilderness and fur traders to keep her people safe. The film accurately portrays the hunting culture of the ancient Comanche people. The Predator in this film looks like one of those Wolf hybrids we saw in Predators which was interesting. Really hope they continue this route where they stick a Predator into a certain timeline.2 points

The boomers that are defending Trump are the same boomers that seethe at Nixon for Watergate. Hypocrites.1 point

I saw a report saying that she had alcohol, cocaine, and fentanyl (which was probably just in the cocaine she took... if it's true even) in her system. I saw another report say it was just large amounts of cocaine. I have no idea where the media gets their info from. But yeah, from that footage... really lucky nobody else got hurt. Another report says she went to a hairdresser who picked up a wig(?) - one interview with him says she smelled strongly of alcohol... another says he did not suspect drugs and/or alcohol. Apparently the woman who almost died and her pets are all relatively okay, which is decent news considering how bad it was for Anne Heche. I guess it's different though reacting to something crashing into your house at high speed and the resulting fire than... being in the thing crashing into your house at high speed and bursting into flames. It's one of those things though where I feel really bad for her and her family/friends... but I also think "wow what a shitty and selfish way to accidentally kill yourself - thankfully nobody else was hurt."1 point
-
Oh yea, don't excuse the reasons behind it, looking at the footage she was really going some in that car before she crashed it... They say it was not alcohol related but there were high levels of drugs present in her system... Either way it was lucky no-one else got killed looking at what happened..1 point

The last 3 FBI heads are all lifelong Republicans - I don't see how they could be "too close to the Dems." I think the raid is simply the result of having a brazen criminal as President of the United States and him managing to skirt all accountability while he was President. I find it ironic what's gotten him raided is a law he's signed into power and his own refusal to cooperate with an FBI investigation after he hounded his first electoral opponent for her FBI investigation... while she was cooperating. It's America too, it's not like former Presidents have ever really faced accountability - nor do rich people really feel the sting of consequence for the crime for the most part. So it does blow my mind that he didn't cooperate with the FBI as he probably would have received a slap on the wrist. Also taking Ted Cruz's word on anything is inadvisable.1 point

I’m enjoying the “law and order” crowd now crying about how someone they like isn’t above the law & that the FBI should be defunded. I also like DJTJ crying about how “it wasn’t the FBI alone, the DOJ was behind it all” - even though the FBI is a part of the DOJ Very amusing to see people defend the indefensible, sometimes demonstrating incredibly limited understanding of any of the basic concepts of what’s going on.1 point

Thats why it was such a great move. If its anything incriminating (which we assume 100% it is even if its not nuclear docs) Trump wont want it public. If it is nuclear docs he cant even try to claim it was planted because the FBI wouldnt even have access to that stuff. Either way he loses his leverage and makes it much harder for the retrumplicans to back him. On a side bar I love the bit about Trump pleading the fifth in his deposition in the NY tax stuff. The guy was the most outspoken about people pleading the fifth it might have been on of his most consistent comments, you cant make this shit up, its just too poetic. Fox and friends will still try to spin this somehow I imagine but even there theres been some cracks in the walls. Theres a great clip with Steve Scalise on with Doocy senior trying to peddle his FBI bullshit about rogue agents and got called out to his face bascially its amusing watching them all squirm.1 point

Given his dealings in the past with the Saudi prince theres no doubt in my mind something went on there. I dont know the source and how true it is but the nature of those doc's (allegedly) is that they are very, very secure and theres no chance he happend upon them in any way shape or form. That worries me even more so. Im with Harry, Garland comes out looking fantastic after that press conference. Called his bluff bigtime and adressed nearly all of the issues.1 point

Always appreciate films, particularly horror films that have a high attention to detail. It's what makes the original Scream so brilliant.1 point

So, it’s €108m Orpheus Media has apparently purchased 20% of the media rights for Barça’s games being transmitted in south-east Asia for the next 6 years. I really don’t need to say anything here on this one apart from adding Jaume Roures’ statement just now when he was quizzed quickly as he departed the Camp Nou. (Not that his statement is required here) ”I’ve just given a helping hand to the socios who aren’t to blame. Not to this board or any board. This club needs to stay in the hands of the socios and they deserve to see this team play in full this year.”1 point

Fright night (2011) 8/10 The movie is a thoroughly watchable, but easy throw away entertaining horror film. However, it does 2 things so outrageously well that it goes from a 6.5 to an 8. The film has a level of attention to detail and setup/payoff that is rare in cinema, genuinely on the level of a film like tremors in that regard. And secondly Colin Farrell fucking SLAYS as a creepy/sexy vampire. Born for it. He's a cunt talking about taming neglected women one second, then charming your pants off the next. It's outrageous how easily he kills this role. Elevates the movie.1 point

Sounds like a good film where a rich ex-footballer just lives his post-career life acting as a WUM on a random forum in 2022. But tbf this is the best random forum there is so it’s actually plausible.1 point

I'm not a Spurs fan, but to me that seems like an unnecessary transfer considering the addition of Richarlison.1 point

I would have thought the British royal family had the most to lose from the release of full details from Epstein. But maybe Trump would do the deed. He was definitely the one in the best position to pull off such an elaborate scene1 point

Today, they found an old British aerial bomb from World War II in my city. Right in the middle of the city center. So 17.000 people had to be evacuated during it's defusal, and 40.000 had to stay in their home. Almost all public transport came to a halt for a few hours during the evacuations and the defusal. The defusal also had to be delayed because some idiots refused to leave their homes. A few months ago something like this happened a few meters from where I live. Luckily I was on vacation at the time, so I didn't need to be evacuated. Still blows my mind to see these old bombs, that were thrown off a plane from a pilot that is probably long dead. Yet it still has such a strong effect for so many people 80 years later. And there are so many more that are yet to be discovered.0 points
