I'm just in the process of writing my goals for 2020 and it's titled '2020 Vision' O.o

What are you wanting to achieve by the end of 2020? These aren't resolutions as such; they are more like targets you want to aim towards.

For 2019, I had goals for how many new films I wanted to watch and how many steps I wanted to do each day but I had others related to mental health and stuff like that.

I always write them down on the internet in a blog post or in a notebook so I can track them as I go along and hold myself accountable. You could maybe use this thread for that?

Just keep me and the wife's health clicking along, stopping smoking was our biggest achievement, Liz 3 years gone me 2 years with none of that cigarette shit down our throats and into our lungs.

Keep up my weight loss (currently at two and a half stone since July), get with this bird at work (dangerous game but you know how it is), get my own place possibly. Do all of this and have enough saved up to get my head kicked in at Dynamo Kiev next season.

I'm dropping down from full time work to 4 days a week next year to support my kids as the wife goes back to work from maternity leave.

Am really excited about having that free time to chart my own course with them so most of my goals will be about how I use that weekly Thursday to expose my kids to as many new skills and experiences as possible.

Swimming lessons, socialisation, new hobbies. Getting out more and seeing things.

Probably also a goal around re-establish a relationship with the wife after us both being in the baby vortex over the past year. Go on a few dates etc.

Good luck buddy. Its not easy to go from a full work week down to fewer days and then having to fill that time with activities that keep you busy too. Although, I'd imagine keeping kids involved in activities will keep you plenty busy.

One of mine is to watch all of the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I've not seen many at all.

I'll post my full list once I've done it.

Me neither. Maybe we can create a thread and do a mini book club thing

I'm looking forward to it. Just had a month of doing it full time (Paid parental leave from my work) as my wife went back to work and I thoroughly enjoyed it, to my surprise.

Sometimes when other people look after your kids they take the easy option. Placate them with tv or other media. It pains me to see them not learning and doing more so when I have a day with both of them I plan it out...

The work side will be a bit tough but it actually probably helps my career. My work are so strong on gender equity right now and looking for uptake amongst male managers of flexible work arrangements to support equal parenting... To them I'm embracing their policy and role modelling it to others leading by example.

i think this is a good outlook on parenting in general. Giving your kids opportunities to learn things when they are much younger actually helps them in the longer run.

Not a parent but I was always introduced to different things when I was younger and it helped me to learn what kind of things I liked and didn't like and helped shape my skills that I could take into adult life.

Struggling for ideas for my 2020 list. My 2019 was easy to write last December because I was in a shitty place but now I'm feeling worlds better so it's proving difficult to find inspiration.

I spent some time towards the close of the year asking what I did this year that I dont want to do next year and that generally helps me set goals for the next year. I try and stay away from things like working out or thinking that I'll run a marathon just because I know if I want to ill just go do it and I'd rather think of things that will take what I have spent doing during the year and improving on those.

Don't have many specific goals as there's currently quite a bit of uncertainty in my life so I'm not even bothering with making any plans xD

The only specific thing I would like to make progress on is learning Mandarin.

Other than that I think I'll just take each day as it comes; one at a time haha.

Hope all works out for you!

I like the learning Mandarin one. I'd like to learn another language but not sure which yet.

Thanks!

Yeah, I started learning it a while ago on my own and got really into; the plan was to join a class last summer but it unfortunately got canceled as they didn't manage to get a number of students required. Ever since then everything's been a bit chaotic so my progress kind of stalled and I hadn't found time to continue and hadn't really put a lot of effort into finding a new class to be honest... Hopefully will manage to get it sorted after the Christmas/New Year. I really like the language and I'm also interested in the culture so it's not like I don't have enough motivation...just really need to get things organised and settle into a bit of a routine.
