Administrator Stan Posted August 11, 2021 Administrator Posted August 11, 2021 Kick-off 20.00 (BST) Live on Sky Sports VS Last Meeting 26/09/2018 - Arsenal 3-1 Brentford (EFL Cup)
Danny Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Haha seeing Brentford's name in a Premier League match day thread, weird world. Not sure specifically how we will line up for this, though I expect us to look something like this: Mbeumo - Toney Janelt - Norgaard - Onyeka Henry - Pinnock - Jansson - Ajer - Roerslev Raya Contrary to popular belief we will try and attack the game and take hold of possession for as long as we can. Expect Toney to try and cause havoc amongst the Arsenal centre back's and generally just be all over the pitch whilst Mbeumo will try and run in behind. Henry and Roerslev will both intend to push high up the pitch to stretch the game, aiming to get crosses in too. Expect to be impressed by Janelt as he plays some very neat passes, but also defensively strong and made from titanium. Norgaard is obviously a defensive mid but he will be trying to play passes in behind the Arsenal defence. Onyeka will act more as a box to box midfielder, much like Janelt will, and both will try to provide industry to break down the Arsenal midfield. I would anticipate Arsenal will try and attack us down our weakest side which is our right handside. Honestly I half expect both sides to give away a silly goal from a stray pass, and at some point Raya's height will haunt him this season, but overall his shot stopping and ball playing abilities will weigh out those overly loud negatives to his game. Feel like this might end up as a score draw that we can take a lot of positives from.
Ploughendplonker Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Quite interested to see how Brentford do. I have them around 16th I think, but wouldn't be particularly surprised if they finished anywhere between 10th-20th, just think it's quite hard to judge how they'll do. 1-1 draw in this one I think.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted August 13, 2021 Subscriber Posted August 13, 2021 I really think Brentford win this.
Danny Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 No Laca or Auba for Arsenal, probably do them a favour tbh

Bluewolf Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Pork Pie, Sausage Roll C'Mon Brentford gis a goal...
Lucas Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Arsenal's front 6 looks like the type of team they would put out in the Carabao Cup.
6666 Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Not sure what's going on with Auba & Laca. Hope it's not Arteta once again starting the season by falling out with a couple of players. I am looking forward to seeing what Balogun can do though. Especially with Pepe, Smith-Rowe, and Martinelli behind him. A couple of starters in Gabriel and Partey out, but it will be interesting to see how new signings Lokonga and Ben White do. Even as someone who expects us to finish either 7th, 8th, or 9th, it's still difficult not to get excited for the first game of the season.

Has a much better all round game than Nketiah and a lot of people have wanted to see him get a proper chance in the league. Will be a big test for him.
LFCMadLad Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Brentford Fans belting out 'Hey Jude' is fantastic.
Administrator Stan Posted August 13, 2021 Author Administrator Posted August 13, 2021 Fancy Brentford to win this now. Atmosphere is electric.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted August 13, 2021 Subscriber Posted August 13, 2021 What a brilliant atmosphere. Really is so refreshing.
Bluewolf Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Brentford must have been a bit disappointed they got Arsenal in their first game of the season Instead of a big club...
Subscriber Dan+ Posted August 13, 2021 Subscriber Posted August 13, 2021 What's the away fan allocation? Looks tiny.

Whiskey Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Taken just 15 minutes to remember why fans in the ground is shite. "You're support is shit" and "Shall we sing a song for you" chants. Absolute cringe.
Administrator Stan Posted August 13, 2021 Author Administrator Posted August 13, 2021 YESS GO ON BRENTFORD!!!
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted August 13, 2021 Subscriber Posted August 13, 2021 Nice goal but the goalkeeper really should be doing better there.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted August 13, 2021 Subscriber Posted August 13, 2021 The Brentford fans deserve that. Imagine having their first season in the Premier League and not being able to witness that goal going in.
