Japan quick double? German quick double. Fuck it would be satisfying

Would be, but very unlikely, despite how unpredictable these games have been xD

It's crazy nonetheless.

I'm not German yet have seen the match against Spain and again tonight and thought he did ok.

Spain also lose against Japan, I kind of think just bad luck this time and perhaps underestimating your first opponent though I did not see that match.

@Danny Guess who has the best XG in the tournament?

Guess who couldn't score because no Fullkrug? XG needs to die a death.

It’s Cristiano Ronaldo because his XP (expected penalty) rate is 1.

This must be tough for Germany; they got the win that they needed, but in the end, Japan's winning goal against Spain, that shouldn't have been allowed, sends Japan through to the next round instead. I don't want to take away from Japan's performances, because they have been mostly impressive in their play. But that second goal clearly shouldn't have been given, as the ball obviously went out of play before the Japanese put it in the net.

I have to also agree with Devil-Dick, Kimmich's talent is wasted at right-back, he is so much more influential in midfield. He should have played alongside Goretzka in the German midfield. They combine superbly for Bayern and know each other's game well. The in-form Fullkrug, should have also started upfront instead of Muller. Fullkrug indeed got the 4th goal when he came on as a sub today, adding to the equalising goal he scored against Spain. It's a shame that Germany got knocked out in the manner that they did. But at the same time, Japan are an exciting team and they will definitely give Croatia a run for their money in the next round.

It was fine. The whole ball didn't go over.

I thought Germany looked ok going forward in the two and a bit games I saw of them. But the lack of an out and out striker kills them. They would have probably had the Japan game wrapped up if they had that specialist there with the chances they created.

It's hard when you don't have that generation's Klose/Klinsmann/Bierhoff etc coming through but it was so weird that the lad that came on as sub all three times, scored twice and made an impression eachtime but couldn't get a start. You do wonder what some coaches see other than the painfully obvious at times.

Defensively though, Germany are so suspect. To think, they have conceded two goals eachtime to Japan and Costa Rica, that can't happen at the major tournaments.

Bottom line is, nobody fears them when they used to carry such a fearful reputation. If the smaller sides think they can beat them, then they are hardly going to concern the bigger sides.

Some serious planning needs to be had now because the next Euro's is massive for them on home turf. They need to be making that their tournament.

Well it was a close decision. But yeah, having read what the rules are, I guess the goal should have stood. The rules state that the whole of the ball must cross the line for it to be out, that includes the curvature part of the ball that isn't touching the ground. Although the part of the ball touching the ground was clearly over the line and out, the fact that a miniscule part of the curvature of the ball was not over the line, meant that the ball was deemed to still be in play. I wasn't aware that the whole of the curvature of the ball had to be over the line, I thought that it was just the part of the ball touching the ground that had to be out of play for the ball to be called out. But I am now aware of these rules.
