People don't sign time specific contracts in the real world though do they.

Temporary contracts are very common in the real world, possibly even as much as a fifth of the workforce.

Football transfers are simply a compensation system between employers to make up for a loss to their competitiveness from losing a certain employee. If you can agree the compensation of one player then it stands to reason that all players must have a price.

It is a flaw in the rights of players that someone can be priceless, whilst leaving the decision of the price to a club can lead to employers abusing their power over the employee.

Coutinho isn't priceless, I'm pretty sure that if a reasonably structured bid had of been made we'd have sold. Sadly for Barcelona, £36m up front with £50m been paid over 763 years with £36m made up of add ons consisting of Coutinho providing 40 assists a season, scoring 35 goals a season and being voted world player of the year .... is just not going to cut it.

Let's hope he gives Mane a slight injury so both will miss Liverpool's next game.

Contract-itis season apparently disappears around the end of this month. Symptoms include training ground injuries, back pain, mysterious phone calls from grandma and pram-toy tossing.

If he's gunna be a bitch I'd rather us just crack on without him.

Apparently Coutinho and his 'team' have now blamed Barcelona for driving a wedge between him and Liverpool!

Oh fuck off you little rat. More like it didn't work how you planned and now you want to play because the World Cup is around the corner.

I think he's a great player but as far as I'm concerned he can fuck right off.

Back injury my bollocks.

If I am being honest in all this mess I forgot about how important I still think Lallana is to our midfield and how unfortunate we are that he s not coming back sooner and that the injury has been extended.

Get one more season out of him and then sell to PSG next summer.

For what it's worth, I don't think Coutinho has behaved particularly badly, yes he gave a transfer request in but can you blame him? He hasn't given interviews, I remember Ronaldo giving interviews left, right and centre saying he was a slave when Real Madrid were initially rebuffed. It won't be an issue getting him back playing and I'm sure there will be an acknowledgement that if there is significant interest next summer he can leave. Despite all the furoure I don't yhink any side has come out badly here, or behaved improperly.

Definitely!

If he doesn't move to Barcelona which I don't he will do now, I would say PSG is certainly a massive possibility seeing as he's Neymar's best friend and the Parisian club have been interested in him in the past.

I'm sure it's been said before, but it wasn't the transfer request itself that angered people, it was the fact that he did it the day before our season started having said all summer that he wouldn't try to force a move. You're right, though, he could've done a lot worse.

You don't think Barcelona will go back in for him next Summer? Obviously you know more than I do, but that doesn't make sense to me considering they've been monitoring him for three years and haven't bought anyone better than him this window.

If Barcelona's final offer wasn't so embarrassing then he'd probably be there by now.

What has happened to them? Are they in loads of debt or something?

New president completely fucked them.

But how? Did he saddle them with debt? This current Barca board isn't the one who negotiated release clauses for MSN that we're comparitively way lower than what they would be on at Real Madrid. And if their water budget is fucked, that has to mostly be from the old board as well.

This current board doesn't have a clue how to negotiate with a selling club though. A bit like our head of recruitment, Michael Edwards - who has probably given himself enough reason to be let go by the end of this transfer window - but I doubt we'll sack him.

Has to be some correlation, as soon as he's president, Barca's transfer policies/activities as well as home grown/youth players integration has gone to shite.

Real and Barca have switched up board members.

Agree to a certain extent regarding Edwards. He's totally fucked up with the VVD episode, no doubt about that! The Keita saga though wasn't his fault because I'm absolutely positive that he thought a bid over £70m would be accepted.

Shit transfer window so far though whichever way you look at it.

Horrendous window from us.

I would say shit but not horrendous.

We look to have got a very decent LB in Robertson, an excellent wide player in Salah, a very promising youngster from Chelsea and we've kept our best players.

On the flip side, we've failed to get our number 1 and 2 targets through a mixture of fucking up and RBL just refusing to sell. We've also fucked up in not having any back up options in case 1 and 2 fell through.

I know I defend FSG a lot and I'm going to again. I think the failure in this window is totally down to Klopp, his recruitment team and Edwards. The money has been there and we've bid considerable amounts yet our top targets aren't here and we have no back up.

I've no doubt though that you and Mike will spin this saying something like ..."FSG are wank, the £72m bid was fake, it's their fault because they hired these twats and they've won no trophies"

Mate, Liverpool's bids weren't big enough in today's transfer fee climate and that's why you haven't signed those primary targets. It's exactly the same issue Barcelona are trying to play while handling quite a large sum of money.

Why?

Because in both cases (as in all or most), clubs don't want to be done like kippers for quality players and players that mean alot to the club that has them under contract.

Liverpool's issues are the same as everyone's.... Shit board and crap negotiators. Why defend something that has nothing whatsoever to do with the sentiments you have for your club?

So in one paragraph you say clubs don't want to sell and in the other it's because of crap negotiations?

I'm pretty sure leading up to this window we would have thought £73m would have been enough to sign keita! I mean, how high would you expect us to go?

We could have offered £118m spread out over 1187 years like Barcelona did but that just isn't going to work.

It's crap negotiating because in the present climate clubs want to receive the amounts others are by comparison on their players.

Clubs that pretend to compete for top honours never want to sell their best players and if they're forced to sell because the player shows the club he wants to move, then from there on we're talking about prices.

You can't go on about what Barcelona have offered hasn't been enough and then feel that you've offered a "substantial" amount for someone else's player.

Maybe that wasn't enough?

Maybe the negotiating wasn't as sincere as it should be and the fans are being fed garbage so as to seem like ambition is an ingrained philosophy?

I know this at Arsenal, but maybe FSG are sooooooooo LIVERPOOL nobody has cottoned onto it yet.
