Rick Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 The away goal will be crucial for us. If we score early on it gives them a massive mountain to climb. They've put a few past us already this season, but have Van Dijk at the back so I'm confident that we won't concede 4 or 5.
True Blue Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 City should go all out, nothing to lose really. Liverpool were brilliant in the first game and probably already booked a semi final spot. Can't see them bottle it now, even if City gets a few early Liverpool can get at least one back.
Dr. Gonzo Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 An early goal would be great. This match is already set up to have them attack from the word go, with the 3 goal lead - but obviously an away goal makes the job harder for them. Same XI as last time would be ideal, with Gini playing in Henderson's "#6" role, which is a big downgrade unfortunately. Especially away from home where Gini always seems to play worse. City are obviously dangerous. One of the best attacks in football. And it's not beyond them to come back from this. But it's our first CL run in a very long time and we've done well to top our group, destroy Porto, and put ourselves in a good spot to make it to the semis. Another big performance from us and it's almost guaranteed we get a European giant (or Sevilla), abd that would be very cool.
Happy Blue Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Big ask but we normally average 3 goals a game at home and nearly scored 7 against united the other day with a weakened team selection ..this all depends on which City turns up on the night, need to go all out from the start and keep hold of the ball for most the game, 2 away goals will wrap this up for Liverpool Ederson Sterling - Kompany - Otamendi - Walker De Bruyne - Fernandinho - Silva Bernardo - Aguero - Sane BENCH:- Bravo - Stones - Laporte - Gundogan - Jesus - Delph - Diaz
Inverted Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 City are desperate and I think there will be chances both ways; so as long as Liverpool are clinical and someone steps up at the right time to nab the away goal I can't see City getting through this. However, football's bizarre, any team can have a crap day in front of goal and City can always deliver something spectacular, so anything is possible.

Although Pep fielded a similar thing against us in 2012 at the Nou Camp
Guest Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 After the 6-1 at Camp Nou last season, you can't rule out the better teams turning big aggregate score lines around, but I doubt Liverpool will bottle this. Maybe we'll see a 2-0 or 2-1 win for City but I think Liverpool will get the job done.

Although Pep fielded a similar thing against us in 2012 at the Nou Camp It's all out attack bud with Sterling playing more as a winger, was tempted to put Jesus in for Otamendi and just leave Kompany in our half ...joking aside, when Pep has gone this extreme we have won games by over 5 goals with 80%ish possession so don't be surprised if you see something like above ..Mendy might even play, he's been back for weeks now
Scousermum Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Hope that we can get an early goal. I am so nervous for this game because City are so good at attacking.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted April 9, 2018 Subscriber Posted April 9, 2018 First goal massive. Any Liverpool goal ends the tie to be honest but if City go 1-0 up in the first 20 or so minutes it's going to be a very difficult psychological battle for Liverpool and they'll have to make sure they don't end up sitting back and trying to hold on for 70 minutes.

Panflute Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 It'll either be a really exciting match or Liverpool score 1 and it ends in a 0-1 or 1-1. I'm hoping the first but expecting the latter. Still want Liverpool to go through though.
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted April 10, 2018 Subscriber Posted April 10, 2018 It all really depends on the intensity of the team and how much they put City under pressure. Which is possible even with a loaded midfield. The reason they didn't operate so well at Anfield is because they weren't afforded any time to turn their possession over into attack and by the time they got to that stage it was too late. I just hope its the same here because its not like we went to the Etihad and sat back, that red card ruined everything. I don't think its going to be one-way traffic tonight and we're going to see a very good game.

More like the first half of the 1st leg for the entire game.
DeadLinesman Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Liverpool will score within 10 minutes. Then City will bang down the door scoring four, but go down to away goals.

Cicero Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 This 1st half is going to be absolutely mental. City know they need to be down Liverpool's necks off the getco, scoring at least 2 before the 2nd half could put them in good position. However even if Liverpool score one, the tie is over.

Happy Blue Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 hopefully Liverpool's bus doesn't get bricked which is currently parked at the Lowry Hotel and departing around 17.30pm onto chapel street, up to trinity way, past Manchester Arena making a left onto pollard street then onto ashton new road, past the building site and arrive at the stadium

You think 5 goals is beyond us? ..last time they played at the Etihad they lost 5-0
