When Mossadegh nationalised Iranian oil and the US & UK took out the democratically elected leader is the start of where things went wrong. The Shah was an idiot politically, he alienated the left and the right - the upper middle class and wealthy loved him - but basically nobody else. He also tied himself very closely to Nixon and when Nixon’s administration ended in disgrace... he didn’t keep good graces with his new, more left wing puppet masters. Carter grew increasingly irritated with the Shah, and was actually... not on that bad of terms with Khomeini https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter's_engagement_with_Ruhollah_Khomeini?wprov=sfti1 Western media initially portrayed Khomeini in a pretty positive light too, painting him as a wise old eastern mystic. But it all stems from the installation of a shitty dictator puppet in the 50s imo.2 points

"you can now go out in groups of 6" This has been the case all year anyway. I actually get sick of walking down a pavement and 2 families(who clearly live in separate houses) are taking up the whole pavement in a group of like 12 of the cunts, so you can't get passed without nearly being ran over by a car in the process, you walk through the football field near by and 8 students are playing football or you go to the park and groups of God knows how many are all grouped together.1 point

Exactly. From the first round you could see Whyte wasn't about to make the same mistake, he clocked Povetkin early then stayed cautious. A rematch probably on the cards but I can't see Povetkin getting away with its again, he got lucky last time and now Whyte has his number.1 point

Must be great for some of those younger ones to be driving on the same tracks as drivers they saw growing up too. Must feel quite humbling for the older drivers too if they know they've played a part as inspiration for the younger drivers to take up and succeed in the sport...1 point

What is also weird is seeing drivers whose father you saw racing in F1. Verstappen, Magnussen back in the day, now Mick. I also still have an remote-controlled car somewhere of Carlos Sainz Seniors WRC Toyo Corolla from the 90s.1 point

Undercard was okay I thought. Cheese and Metcalf was fight of the night. Whyte was always going to win. Povetkin’s age has shown in his last few fights.1 point

Impressive win by Webb, blasted Preifer out in 2 rounds! ..ref steps in after the 3rd knockdown Kongo vs Mickinson gone the distance, bit boring! ..Mickinson takes it on points Hatton vs Ruiz in a 4 rounder ..Hatton looks very raw, wins on points Cheeseman vs Metcalf ...cheesy cut, metcalf bruised ...good scrap! Cheeseman get's the KO right on the bell in the 11th, fight of the night so far Wardly vs Eric "the bum" Molina ...molina rocks wardly in the 5th, legs buckled and retreating, molina goes for the finish and gets knocked out himself Povetkin vs Whyte ..Povetkin rocked in the 1st, Whyte knocks Povetkin out in the 4th, Dill landed a lot of heavy shots from the 1st, Povetkin walked onto some peaches, legs went in the 4th1 point

It's amazing the things you miss in lockdown. Early morning showers. Commuting. Doing all your grocery shopping at the weekend. Getting shot in the head by a virgin with an AR-15. Buying an overpriced sandwich and a coffee for lunch. You know, the little things.1 point
