There once was an unwritten law on here that only Bundesliga (1!) teams are allowed to have their own thread. We should definitely go back to that. Will have a word with Andrew about it.2 points

Context is important... So, as everyone knew for a long time now - it was a wrong transfer for both sides and in hindsight, neither the club nor Selke would do it again. We needed a different type of striker, he didn't fit into the system and failed to perform. Hope he can revive his career at Hertha.2 points

Haha - how long have you been here? I'm over 14 years (I joined in college and graduated in 2008) . Also, I enjoy a small jab at @Viva la FCB as he just one of the nicest blokes on here. Oh I know. But certainly you have to love someone of his caliber coming out and saying his dream to play for a 2nd division team. Probably difference if you Bayern as most of the world would dream of playing for you lot, but having a quality player saying they dream of playing for someone NOT BvB or Bayern, is something I rather like to see.1 point

And now it's official So many hopes, so sad it didn't work out. Hope he does well in Belgium and improves his game. In other news, Yuya Osako is reportedly set to go back to Japan and join Vissel Kobe.1 point

Yeah, he's a bold one to admit his love to Schalke at this point In all seriousness though, I love it.1 point

That is stunning, mate. Anyway, currently playing Battlefield 1. I always wanted to play it, as I thought the World War I setting is something different for a change. Then a few days ago I got a free key from an acquaintance. Played it a bit last night, and the story mode is fucking awesome.1 point

I’d be reacting the same as Stan if one of our key players got injured in a Pre season friendly got injured from a bad tackle, no doubt about it. Means you can’t look at it from an objective standpoint though. Fofanas rake down the Achilles wasn’t great, the tackle on him wasn’t either, and the outcome is definitely unfortunate. But I’ve seen a lot lot worse1 point

The tackle initially doesn't look bad, but when you see how he's scissor kicked him and wrapped round his leg around Fofana. Definite intention to lay one on Fofana.1 point

Have to say that I'm amazed that some think it's just 'unfortunate'. It's a really poor challenge and endangers the safety of the opponent. I think Fofana's earlier challenge can be described as unfortunate.1 point

I dunno that it's not reckless. 3-0 down in a pre-season friendly (a truly meaningless match, other than to get the players on the pitch closer to match fitness prior to the season). He didn't need to leave his feet, let alone scissor Fofana. Context is important, this wasn't a match with anything on the line. A challenge like that in a friendly is a pretty reckless thing to do, because it's not really necessary and it's the sort of challenge where there's a higher chance of injury.1 point

Just an update and thanks for all the well wishes. I did a lateral flow test when I started not to feel too good over a week ago. When the results turned out to be positive I was told to take a PCR test by the NHS to confirm that I was positive. Indeed after I took the PCR test, I tested positive. I had real difficulty breathing when I moved about too much and I also had a cough. I was told to self-isolate until the 5th of August by the NHS. Luckily I am feeling much better now. I am not getting out of breath anymore when I move about and I am hardly coughing. I guess my immune system has really battled hard over the past week to get me better. It was the unknown that was the most worrying part initially. As I was just told to self isolate, without any other advice as to what I could expect. I'll be getting the vaccine on the 6th of August, as I don't want a recurrence of this. I have to say that I am relieved that I am feeling much better now.1 point

In ref, to @nudge post above, tried to quote but can't with a picture in so below is to do with the above. Gilgamesh tablet: US authorities take ownership of artefact A federal court has ordered that a rare ancient artefact, known as the Gilgamesh Dream Tablet, must be surrendered to authorities. The 3,500-year-old tablet, from what is now Iraq, bears text from the Epic of Gilgamesh - one of the world's oldest works of literature. Officials say it was illegally imported before being purchased by the Christian-owned brand Hobby Lobby. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-579929571 point

The earliest known international agreement, a piece treaty agreed between the Ancient Egyptians and the Hittites after the Battle of Kadesh. Kadesh is also the oldest record of a tactical battle with formations largely preserved. It was a war of superpowers of its time, 6,000+ Egyptian chariots were there. Most probably ended in a stalemate After Kadesh the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II had a political problem since he had already made peace with his greatest enemy he could no longer sell the savior of Egypt tag to consolidate his power like even today politicians wag wars, create tensions to win elections. He solved this dilemma by using religion, proclaiming his divinity. As a living God who ought to be worshiped not as an oracle or something, this was an unprecedented but genius move that worked. He ruled for 66-67 years more than almost all Pharaohs.1 point

There’s more intent in Fofana trying to turn the lads Achilles into cheesestring than the one on him.0 points
