This was intense It's mad how they go in there without any protection; no gloves, no long sleeves or long trousers, etc... Thanks for sharing, will watch more for sure. In my last permanent place of residence, we used to get quite a few snakes come near or even into the house. A few venomous ones in the area as well, so it's good to stay informed and ready, just in case... Had to get four snakes out of the bedroom and balcony using the kitchen tongs once One grownup and three juveniles; probably had a nest somewhere nearby.2 points

They work as pest control without killing the snake. So they'll remove the same from somebodies house or place of business. They then relocate the snake to it's natural habitat. They are snake lovers in general, it's great when they rescue a black mamba or spitting cobra. Some of their rescues are scary as the rescue can take place in a dark cave or closed off dark area. So if they stumble upon the snake they may get bitten. Check this videos, it's good. It's based in South Africa and comes on Sky on one of the documentary channels. If you type in snakes in the city in google, you get loads of full episodes.2 points

I think Croatia. I was a kid and there were loads of snakes everywhere. Especially at the Krka Waterfalls. My mom had to carry me because I refused to walk. Also saw loads of them ran over on the road. Urgh.2 points

When I was in high school, kids would fight. It'd get pretty bad, rivalries, bad blood etc, it easily could have or would have escalated to gun violence if guns were readily available, but only in the very extreme cases. That is one reason I don't want to raise children in the USA. It's not okay and it's not normal for kids being murdered in school because of a disgruntled student or employee. Kids just take it to the extreme, for whatever the reason it's a method of self-expression to murder the students or try to burn down the school. I couldn't imagine the pain of having a child and then immediately not because of gun violence. Kids get murdered by stray bullets in the city of Chicago, what is this war zone? It's not on for me. It's the one thing I will never accept as a normality. It's the people that @Eco mentioned that I'm least worried about, the hunters, the 1776ers, the recreational shooters etc. They typically practice safe gun techniques, take care of their weaponry, and for the most part store them securely. It's their kids and other family members I worry about, one bad day or several in a row and they know where they can get a gun, probably not use it properly and cause serious harm to others.2 points

So, just got back from Eastern Germany (Saxony). My first time in the former German Democratic Republic, and I didn't know what to expect. I was a kid when the Berlin Wall came down, and since then I always heard things about the Eastern Germans, and a lot of negative stigma too. I have to say I was absolutely positively surprised how friendly and warm harted the people were there. Super friendly and funny. Anyway, the town I stayed in, Bad Schlema, was small, but rich in history. It used to be a uranium ore mining town, and after they stopped mining, the whole place was radioactively contaminated. So they just put 8 meters of soil on top of it, to contain the radioactivity. So a big part of the town used to be a lot lower. You can still see the mountains in the background of the sign. But the whole town was just demolished and they put 8 meters of soil on top of it and turned it into a park. Quite a beautiful park too. Then I visited Zwickau, which seriously has one of the most beautiful old towns centers I've ever seen. Lots of beautiful old buildings, mixed with modern stuff, great gastronomy and just beautiful beer gardens were you could sit down and enjoy the vibe of the city. Another citiy I've visited was Chemnitz. It had a nice enough city center with beautiful old buildings. The Red Tower is the oldest building in town, from the late 12th century: But as soon as you left the city center, you could tell that it has it's rough parts too. They had a huge Karl Marx momument in the middle of the city, it was put up in the 70s, when the GDR was in full swing: But also some cute penguins: So yea, very interesting trip, especially when it comes to history. I ate at a Restaurant in a building that was a preschool for kids of the Soviet occupiers in the 50's. Will definitely go back and explore more one day. Anyway, here's a bonus pic of a cat that lived across the street from my flat, that I watched every morning. PS: Oh yea, I was there for Erzgebirge Aue vs. Fortuna Düsseldorf. But I kinda forgot that I was there since I experienced so much else.2 points

Yea, I've just read reviews about that valley on trip advisor. Most say it's best to hike there around 10 am as it gets too hot during the day. Have fun and be safe!1 point

She’s probably right, but she’s still a terrorist traitor so I think it’s right for the government to want nothing to do with her.1 point

While I definitely agree that there's a lot of potentially dangerous implications in the use of AI, and things like facial recognition, biometrical idenitifcation, general surveillance, categorising people based on their behaviour, (social scoring systems) pose a huge threat to socal freedoms, this moratorium sounds just as vague and pointless as the UN.1 point

The reboot of Never Mind the Buzzcocks is starting on 21st September. I'm not a music fan by any means but it's got a quite good line-up with Greg Davies presenting and Noel Fielding and Daisy May Cooper (of This Country fame) as team captains so will definitely give it a watch.1 point

I think that Weiser is a very good signing by Werder, he should do well for them in the 2. Bundesliga. Having sold so many of their better players, I feel sorry for Werder, but I hope they manage to have a decent season at the very least. As for Kostic, I don't know how the Frankfurt players will respond to his recent behaviour. Also I am not sure how he will react or what his attitude will be like after his transfer was essentially blocked. These are not the ideal times for Kostic or Frankfurt.1 point

That's our daughter's last of the oldest pet rats away, Charmander, she was getting very slow and weak and had two tumours so she was euthanized and cremated at the vets this morning, the daughter has been heartbroken all morning as Charmander was one of the first pet rats she adopted and Charmander had a good life and was over 2 years old which is good for a pet rats lifestyle. She only has 2 pet rats left which are young so she is putting them up for adoption, she has already had a buyer for the cage and now our daughter will concentrate on wee Puddin who is growing up fast and a joy to see.0 points
