United need somebody to play in between Matic and Pogba, someone to take Pogba's defensive responsibilities.  The defence is not good enough to have Matic as the only cover.

should have Herrera and Matic as the defensive midfielders (if you even need 2) then have Pogba in front of them and Rashford/Lingard either side of him, Lukaku up top.

So is this an acceptance that Matic isnt good enough to do the roll he was supposed to have been bought for? Afterall, former United muppets have been accusing my club of being crazy of allowing our last seasons weakest player to leave for double his value to us who was the answer to making Pogba the free midfielder, yet here we are reading United still have to add more to allow the almost a 100m player to be able to play.

Some might say whoever is doing the buying at your club has his head up his ass (We already know your ex muppets have their heads there)...... Alas, that buying description tends to be a common theme for a few proper clubs  :whistling:

I don't know why Herrera isn't used more by Mourinho.  He does do the job defensively, but probably likes something going forward.

I think it is more down to the CB's not being good enough, other than maybe Bailly.  Plus having two converted wingers in their mid 30's as full backs.

Though I would admit Matic lacks the speed to do the job on his own, hence Pogba having more defensive responsibilities than I would like. But I do think Matic was a good pick up and dont think we would have made top 4 with out him.

Fact: In the 1999 season United lost 5 games the whole season, this City side has now lost 3 games in 6 days.

LMAO, did someone say greatest PL team ever?

we only lost 3 games the whole season in 15/16.

We only lost 1 in 04/05

Conceded the fewest in history, most wins in history and got the most points in history.

All before Mourinho and his heritage nonsence.

Old Trafford expansion plans put on hold

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43740013

Quote

Manchester United have been put off expanding the capacity of Old Trafford "in the near future" because of logistical problems.

Plans have been drawn up three times in the last decade with a view to redeveloping the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand. That would take the capacity of England's biggest club ground to over 80,000.

However, with a railway line running directly behind it, and houses just beyond that, work on that stand is considered hugely complicated.

Unlike Liverpool, who last year increased the capacity of Anfield to more than 54,000 while continuing to host matches, United would probably have to vacate their stadium to allow the work to take place.

Both Tottenham and Chelsea - who will move into 60,000-capacity stadiums over the next few years - have the neutral option of Wembley as a home while work is in progress, but the only feasible local alternatives to Old Trafford are owned by rival clubs.

"It's a very complex engineering challenge to deliver," Manchester United managing director Richard Arnold said.

"It would be a multi-season challenge and it isn't certain that there's a way of doing it which doesn't render us homeless."

From the start of next season, Old Trafford's capacity will fall from just under 75,000 to 73,300 because of work required to accommodate higher numbers of disabled supporters.

Expansion of Old Trafford has been on the agenda for a number of years. Indeed, former manager Sir Alex Ferguson joked a higher roof on the main stand would be "somewhere to hang the press from".

The costs involved are enormous, though - probably in excess of £200m for around 10,000 extra seats with limited additional corporate facilities.

Improved technology means there is no longer a requirement to build over the main Manchester-Liverpool railway line that runs along the back of the south stand. But major logistical issues remain.

There is no space behind the stand, so the heavy machinery required for the project has no obvious place to go. Obviously, the pitch is out of bounds and the spaces at the sides of the stand are heavily populated by fans on matchdays. Furthermore, the stand itself holds the changing rooms, the TV gantry, press box and studios, all of which would need to be relocated.

bloody train lines.

No real surprise. We put far more emphasis into the U17 and U20’s. We don’t even play fringe squad players in that reserve team.

Bit strange, though when you consider 3 of the last 5 years the United reserves won that league. But obviously they don't give a fuck about the U23s when the manager they brought in for them is Ricky Sbragia.

Darmian has played about twice in 5 months for the seniors and isn’t injured, yet has sat on his arse and not been called up to the reserves, even for match practice. Tells you everything you need to know.

Andreas Pereira has confirmed Valencia have informed his agent they want to buy him this summer but says his preference is to return to Manchester United next season.

Pereira is coming to the end of a season-long loan with Valencia, where he has made 28 appearances this season, scoring once and adding four assists.
