He looks pretty good considering what he’s been through. I despised him growing up... but only because he was a rival. I’d say he’s our greatest rival. But I am very happy to here he’s doing better. He’s a true legend of the sport.

He looks very good for somebody with his medical issues.  I can even understand him better, seems to have lost some of that thick Glaswegian accent.  Great to see, hope the recovery continues.

Javier Ribalta has left his role as United's chief scout to become Zenit's new sporting director after just a year at the club.

Mourinho: "As always, I give my list of players I want to Mr. Woodward, and I wait to see what happens. Am I happy? I am not happy with many things, but I have not spoken to him as he is on his holidays."

Mourinho feels that the United board aren't desperate to win the league and are happy with top 4. Mourinho is unhappy because of this & doesn't understand why Ed Woodward has done nothing post Fred. [duncan castles]

I’ll take anything Castles said with a pinch of salt.

Teso went quiet fast.

I know utd were missing players but your squad depth is terrible. Another thing, all our players were playing with the same philosophy. Regardless whether it was Salah & Mane or Ojo & Sturridge, the same quick pass counter press football that Klopp loves. Utd didn't have anything going on, their players looked like complete strangers towards one another.

Nice result and encouraging stuff in general. Pereira & Shaqiri goals were great.

Matic out for season opener.

Manchester United's Nemanja Matic will miss the start of the new season after having surgery on an abdominal injury.

The midfielder has not featured in any pre-season games, including Saturday's 4-1 friendly defeat by Liverpool.

"Matic came from the World Cup with an injury and the time he had to rest on holiday was not enough to resolve the problem," manager Jose Mourinho said.

"He went to Philadelphia for a top specialist and he didn't leave the clinic. He immediately had surgery."

The Serb has returned to Manchester to continue his rehabilitation.

United begin their Premier League campaign at Old Trafford against Leicester City on Friday, 10 August (20:00 BST).

LeBron James (Liverpool co-owner): "The Lakers as a historical franchise matches up there with all the greats - the Cowboys (Dallas), the Patriots (New England), Manchester United. These are historical franchises."

xD:rofl: even a co-owner knows his club is not the greatest in England or a top club anymore regardless of how many times bitter sir balon says it 😂

I don't think I've ever known anyone as obsessed with everything Liverpool as you Teso xD

I did have the discussion with @SirBalonand he does make some very good points as to why he feels liverpool are bigger than utd. Not sure if a agree personally but it is certainly debatable

xD you're no different when it comes to man utd. You had quiet down a bit after the CL final but the Liverpool lot is on full mode after that friendly victory.

You mention Klopp or Liverpool in basically every post you make. Let's not pretend otherwise.

What! A part owner of a club praising the rivals? He could of said real Madrid or Barcelona. Fair play to LeBron James though, he has never been a liar, hence why he didn't say the name of the club he partially owns

In what way is stating the obvious, a dig? LeBron isn't an idiot like Sturridge.

What he said after the Liverpool game should be enough of a reason for the club to reprimand him in my opinion and to be honest it would be a legal move too as at Manchester United he is an employee working for a PLC.  He literally humiliated his players after that game with his words (ridiculing other employees) in a blanket disrespectful manner.

In that interview he even managed to poke his nose in where it didn't concern him by alluding that both Chelsea and Inter don't have the same status as Manchester United and thus a half empty stadium where "the fans would rather have been on the beach".

I know some have short term memory issues, but Mourinho has ALWAYS been this way, just that some had some sort of affection for his bad manners and lack of ethics in his early days.  When people become sick of your football and the way you are, then it just becomes a general sentiment felt by all.

I think he has gotten worse and more insulting though.  But years ago he could take a team of Robby savages and turn them into European champions he's not so good now so people question him more.

He makes some decent points but come on, the dude hates Man utd and SAF as much as he hates real Madrid..I realized that the they he left SAF out of his top five best coaches of all time.

Watching United vs Real Madrid, second half at least anyway. United went in 2-0 so must have been decent in the first half, but Real have just come out and passed the ball about with ease. United don't look like a team that wants to score another goal, just sitting back and hoping for a 2-1 win I guess. Friendly anyway so who gives a shit what the score is.

Bailly looks alert, has probably been one of United's better players. Sanchez suffering from speedboat without a driver syndrome, Luke Shaw just looks completely off the pace....why? He's had a whole summer off, get fit and come back sharp. De Gea just looks like De Gea. Didn't see a lot of Fred but he looked decent.

Reckon United are due a slow start this season with the way their pre-season seems to have gone.

They looked very good at times in the first half, two well worked goals,  but fell asleep in first half stoppage time and let Madrid cut the lead in half.   Second half was disappointing, we parked the bus in a friendly and hung on for a win. A number of players looked tired, Jose probably shoukd have emptied the bench.

Sanchez played well again and looks like he will have a better season thi year. Bailly has looked good on this tour, but has picked up a couple of knocks, hope either Lindelof or Smalling takes his place agaisnt Bayern.

Surprised by the result, not the second half performance. Both goals were well crafted though which was a positive. Only Benzama from that recognised Madrid 11 with Bale making a start, so not reading anything into it.
