They are such a big part of everything I cook. Onions are such an integral part of the most famous and delicious dishes. Personally I can't fathom how anyone can dislike it, but apparently we have a few "special cases" on here.

I quite like onions, but I can definitely understand why some people don't, especially when it comes to raw onions. Intensive smell and taste that can be quite pervasive, also crunchy texture.

Onions when sauted in butter are creamy and delicious. No acidity in the flavor at all.
Even fried in oil at low temp for a while they go quite mild.
Raw is very intense, and I can understand people not liking raw onion on things.

I eat that shit raw. But they taste best caramelized. That way they offer so much to any dish, especially pasta.

You can't have proper Indian food without onions. Literally a staple for all the sauces you have your food with. So if you say you like Indian food or takeaway etc and don't like onions then you're lying about one of them...

Wait there’s people who  don’t like onions? Even when cooked? I get raw onion maybe in a salad (perhaps, but I like them anywhere), but in cooking onions add a lot in my view.

I'm surprised anyone who cooks would dislike onions... They're a pain to cut up, but the smell of diced onion sizzling on a pan in some Olive oil is what gourmet food is all about.

Raw onions aren't really a thing, except salad onions it the slightest bit in a kebab/souvlaki which is definitely not out of place.

Love them, a salad would not be the same without an onion, mind you, the wife, son and daughter can eat pickled onions out of a jar, whole, I wouldn't do that.

The wife made sausages in gravy last night with carrots, herbs, mashed tatties with...ONIONS, it went down a treat.:P
