Sampaoli should defo make a change, this "false 9" shit is not working at all.

Yeah, Argentina should bring on a striker and play Messi behind him.

agreed. he needs someone to make runs for him and play through balls in to. As great as Messi is, he can't pass to himself.

If France don’t win this considering the shambolic situation with Argentina, and the clear gulf in quality, and how perfectly the game started for them, they should sack Deschamps instantly.

There really isn't. Only the midfield is superior. Everywhere else Argentina more than match them.

Agree. At times you crossed the ball to France area and there was noone there. Higuaín for Pavón would make sense.

France, on the other hand, has no need for a target man. They give the ball to Argentina and explore the counters and in that scenario, Dembélé would be better suited than Giroud.

Can I just mention that Griezmann has been utterly useless in this tournament so far? Been anonymous in these first 4 games bar his 2 pens.

Fuck off :96_ok_hand:

There was a penalty on Messi from Griezmann around min 35 and also don't think Mascherano should have been carded..

No penalty, mate. Griezmann touches the ball first.

France look more solid. Argentina looked toothless until Di Maria's goal.

Mbappé man of the match so far, for me.

Exactly, there is no point playing him as a false 9 when he has no service and it only works coming deep if you have players to play those trademark through balls to. Higuain would be an option. He misses chances but he also scores them, Di Maria is largely poor for them but can produce moments and so can Higuain. It's not like the other options do any better in their general performances and offer less overall.

France looked class just after scoring their goal, but it's been more even again towards the end of that half. Mbappe is scary and he has been the main threat for either side. This lad, as we've been saying for 18 months, looks set to be the next great if everything goes smoothly for him in his career.

yeah.   that's the word for mbappe -- Scary.      His speed is his greatest asset.   Giroud's positioning is good too.     but sadly, france in the first half is only good at counters, not really good in setting up play ....
