  1. Humanity has been restored in some way. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52029877 Fair play, that's a hell of a response.

  5. Good news in UK. Mass home test kits that will tell you in 15 minutes if you have it or have had it could be a week or two away. Amazon will deliver kits and chemists will sell them. Crucial to coming out of lockdown.

  6. If there's anything good to come out of this whole pandemics crap then it's hopefully more appreciation and respect for people who do essential jobs that keep society running. All the little cogs that ensure the system doesn't collapse.

  7. Wtf. How the heck does anyone even come up with the idea that 5G could have anything even remotely to do with people contracting the virus and dying from it? For fucks sake.

  8. Look into golden retrievers or labradors. Smart dogs that are easily trained. They’re also friendly as fuck and just generally great dogs. Dogs are fantastic companions and great animals with a lot of love to give. Owning one is a commitment to that dog for it’s entire life, so picking one that suits your lifestyle is very important. Because otherwise it’s not fair to the animal, who’ll basically be loving you unconditionally. If you’re getting a dog you’ve got to be all in on giving it the best life possible, so it’s not something to be taken lightly.

  10. Love that... I am just a little cog... There are so many people out there right now doing their best to keep going and plenty like the Health workers Hospitals and services that are getting it in the neck day after day with hardly any rest between shifts and credit to our lot and hundreds more around the world that are knocking themselves out trying to keep things running without complaint... When things turn proper shit you really do see people for what they are you know... Thankfully that's mostly decent people just trying to do their bit for the cause...

  11. I've decided I'm done with work, I didn't want to be there at all, so I fucked off. It will shut by the end of the week anyway(or perhaps the week after) as they will run out of materials and can't order any more due to all their suppliers being ordered to shut. They should however already be shut, especially when you look at how horrible the facilities are. They are cleaned once per week at the most. Dirty place. Nevermind Corona, you'll probably catch AIDS on that site even at the best of times. I just spoke to my accountant on the way home and went through everything from this (tax) year and he told me how much the least was that I'd be looking at receiving and it worked out lovely. I will be fine financially due to that as they are going to speed it up for me so that I receive it by May. Not to mention, I have enough in my savings to cover it on its own. I'll sit on my arse all day smoking weed, eating and earning 90 quid for a bit. It's a massive shame not to be able to return to Barcelona around the time the derby was scheduled to take place(or perhaps the Atletico game, I was deciding between both) and see a bird I met there, take a trip to San Sebastian a month or 2 after that and then head to Portugal before the end of the summer(along with some fishing whenever I could), but what can you do? It's about saving lives now(all over the world) and respecting probably the greatest thing this country has:- the NHS, in fact, respecting all the health care systems around the world because they are the ones really on the front-line right now. It's for the best. I also don't think we give enough credit to people who work in shops or supermarkets, as they still have to go about their working business, which puts them at risk of contracting the virus. They are given absolutely nowhere near the credit they deserve in society, same for the delivery driver who brought me food last night.

  12. I believe Trump said they should never need "foreign" equipment then on the same day they put a request in to European countries for help with providing equipment The only hope they've got at the minute is that most cases are the young. In countries like Italy and Spain the young have strong relationships with the elders in the family. More regular contact than in most other countries. Leading to an outbreak among the older demographics. As the US plays catch up with testing their case trajectory as of this morning is the worst in the west. But this chart is distorted by bad testers like the US and UK.

  16. 5210 new confirmed cases and 683 new deaths in Italy. Still many deaths but the increase in daily cases continues to fall; fourth day in a row now! And that's with more tests performed than in previous days. Seems that after two weeks we're indeed seeing the expected impact of the lockdown after all!

  21. No; what they do is detect the presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) which are the main antibodies produced by your body as a reaction to the viral antigen. So the strain essentially doesn't matter. What's good about the combined IgG/IgM tests is that they differentiate between the two antibodies allowing to identify if it's an early or middle/late infection so it can be used for diagnosing people with mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.

  31. In what way has Trump accepted to his own errors?
    1 point
  32. I have to disagree mate. I'm not being pedantic but I honestly think and am pretty certain in saying it that trump is psychologically incapable of accepting responsibility for any error that he has ever made. Mistakes are the fault of others. Success is because of him. He is the most psychologically defective leader of any western country in a generation or more. You say he corrects course but I say erratic swings of position that are totally reactionary. This thing was a hoax to hurt him politically. It was then a pandemic that he was the first person to diagnose. Now it's going to be solved by Easter or people will just have to die because he can't handle the accountability of what's happened to the markets.

  33. Trump is having an absolute shocker in the last week. He's pivoting toward opening the country back up in 2 weeks against all evidence. He's regularly contradicting Dr Fauci. His propaganda arm are putting out ideas about letting the virus do what it wants and that it's not that big a deal. He's going around playing political games against the Governor of New York, a Democrat of course. He's blaming China to divert attention from himself. He was tweeting about how strong the stock market was because of him, it then fell to an 11 year low when the algorithms cottoned on to what is actually going on. Places like New York only really started shutting down properly earlier this week after cases rocketed. That had to be initiated by the Governor not the President. New York has a big outbreak among the young because life just went on. The price may be heavy.

  34. Borris is a fucking cretin really isn't he. How in the fucking world can you keep social distancing on a building site? Yesterday, all the sparkies were sat outside the brew cabin, pretty much hugging, everyone who works are in 2s or 3s and you cannot avoid people, you're constantly walking past people(and can't walk 2 meters away as there isn't a 2 meter gap, or anything close to it. It's impossible.) It also leaves us inclined to piling into a supermarket at brew time for food and the only other people you see in there are over 70s in general. I'm gona take some pictures today and show just what social distancing is on a site(obviously without any faces being seen). I also saw my mates yesterday from another site when I was on my dinner and 5 of them jumped out of a van. They might as well have been hugging and kissing. The last site I worked on is even worse, they made you wear gloves at all times(even when you were walking across the site and not touching anything) in order to prevent catching Weil's disease(who the fuck catches that anyway?) yet they are still open during such an outbreak and there are people from literally all over the country on there. You need to sign in using your finger print and can only smoke in one section, which is a tiny little cramped area at that. How do people eat in a brew room as well? When 100+ people work on a site, you can't all go in 3 at once and have your half an hour. The new(well I've been there 2 months) site I'm on barely has facilities either as it's like a building site from the 1960s. I'd shut that down even at the best of times...

  35. Compared to Bolsonaro, Trump is a great statesman. It´s just that not enough people speak portuguese to get the full picture. Abin (Brazil´s secret service agency), according to some leaked documents, is projecting more than 5.000 deaths in the next 15 days. Bolsonaro was briefed weeks ago about it and yet continues to undermine the efforts of the state governors.

  36. Can you send me the link to when trump admitted he fucked up?
    1 point
  37. This is the sort of reason I respect Trump for admitting he fucked up. It's entirely Trump's fault that the coronavirus is exploding in cases in the USA, but at least he's trying to correct it. Bolsonaro on the other hand would rather die than admit he is wrong.

  38. I can with certainty say they are withholding correct numbers. A chinese fellow I work with was saying through private news feeds and family he has that live there its much much worse then they where releasing. Which is hardly surprising to noone. Kind of reminds me of Chernobyl; having just watched it and it all still being fresh. Just the shit these communists try to keep under wraps is mind boggling, and all for the wrong reasons.

  40. Daily increase in new cases falls again though; that's the most important stat in terms of containing the virus as it starts to look like a trend now. The number of deaths is sad but it's not a good indicator on how the virus is spreading day by day.

For anyone interested, Square Enix are offering the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and the standalone game Temple of Osiris for free if downloaded by Tuesday 24th March as part of a 'Stay Home and Play' campaign. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-03-21-tomb-raider-2013-free-to-keep-as-part-of-stay-home-and-play-campaign Also worth checking the link as the end of the article mentions that others are doing similar as well, so worth a general look.
