Toony Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Good god, 120k a week is a massive sum for a club like Bournemouth to be paying. That said, he's guaranteed goals but you have to wonder how many seasons he has left as a top flight player.
Administrator Stan Posted May 23, 2017 Author Administrator Posted May 23, 2017 i hope Bournemouth lose this 'plucky' & 'little' tag now. Spunked millions on Grabban, Gradel, Cook, Gray, now huge wages on Defoe. They can't be that little now.
Guest Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Great news for Bournemouth. Probably the second best english striker at the moment. I'm happy for defoe as well he seems like a nice guy.
Bluebird Hewitt Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Been hearing it's a two year deal as well. Better hope Bournemouth stay up next season if true.

They've not been little for years now but the media are so in love with them, it's beyond embarrassing. As a League One club they were throwing in excess of £10k a week at players, they're not small.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted May 23, 2017 Subscriber Posted May 23, 2017 Bournemouth and Eddie Howe have done well, but they have had one hell of a relative backing to do it. The most bizarre thing about them is it seems like their best players are their cheapest buys. Bit like us actually. Can see the logic in signing Defoe but £120k a week is absolutely absurd for someone his age, on a 2 year deal with an option of 3. I assume there is some kind of relegation release clause here?
Inverted Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 People seem to treat them with kid gloves because they're a shite little club with a tiny stadium. Not enough to make them underdogs when they're up to their tits in dodgy money.
Dickie Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 First of all where did they get the money for that? Second off, 120k is a stupid amount of money for him, I understand he'll bag goal but still jeez. I guess I makes up for not having to pay for a transfer? Still for that much be best make at least 12-15 goals.

Honey Honey Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 3 year deal paying Defoe £20m Add sign on fee and agent fee it's a bit like a £25-30m signing. Sorry got my Mike Ashley accountant hat on.

Dickie Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Free transfer and only 65k instead of the reported what 80-100k? This move will pay off itself.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted June 29, 2017 Subscriber Posted June 29, 2017 Three year deal is probably a bit steep here. Got a lot of time for Defoe but at 34 years old he could find himself over the hill by February, you never know.
6666 Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 He was quite average last season and only appeared as if he was good because he was surrounded by shite , it is on a free though so not much of a risk.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted June 29, 2017 Subscriber Posted June 29, 2017 Three years is a bit generous but I think he'll get goals in that side. They're very decent going forward.
Administrator Stan Posted April 2, 2018 Author Administrator Posted April 2, 2018 Defoe the master of late, late goals...
