Everton 1-0 Udinese - pre season 2005. I would have been 12. Simon Davies scored the only goal in the last minute. The friendly was a part of the deal to bring Per Kroldrup to Everton and was one of his only actual appearances for the club. Probably Moyes' worst signing in his 11 years at the club.

The first one I can remember was Grimsby v Luton but I can't remember what year it was. The first actual game will have been a lot earlier when my step dad or my uncle took me but i don't know specifc date!

Fortuna Düsseldorf vs. SV Meppen or Energie Cottbus. Not entirely sure. Must have been around 1995 or 96.

In the old beautiful Rheinstadion!

Was that when Darko Pancev, the former Ballon d'Or runner up played for Dusseldorf? xD

Yes! We called him Pannemann Pancev, which roughly translates into goofy man Pancev, because he was pretty terrible for us.

Did you manage to attend any World Cup games in '66 then mate? That would have been an experience.

Went to Shk. Zayad Stadium with my dad in 1995 to watch some games (local teams) but before that went to some stadiums in India too with my dad. Was lots of fun because they used to be packed for local games back then not so much so anymore.

Just after the war my dad got tickets for the final and I went with him on the train to London to watch Charlton and Derby County.  As a kid I had always listened for the Charlton results and when we played card games they were always my team so it was like going to a whole new world.  I was totally smitten with Sam Bartram and remember when the ball burst and no one could convince me that he wasn't so strong the he had squeezed it so hard that that was why it went down.  End of April, 1946 was my introduction to footy and three years later I travelled on the first youth Exchange visit from England to Germany and stayed with a new friend in Castrop-Rauxel - he was one of the 'Knappen' and I was persuaded to join and taken to see Schalke play on what is now the old ground/field near the Veltins.  The only player I could remember was a guy whose name was almost English - the Sandman and I've been stuck with 04 since then!  Time flies.....

Laughed my arse off with that one, it's funny how when we were wee nippers how our imagination can run away with us in what we believe.

Actually yes Chris, I saw all the games played at Goodison that summer. I still have all the ticket stubs.

All the group matches plus semi between West Germany and the USSR but the best was the QF between Portugal and North Korea. Portugal were big favourites with Eusebio, everyone behind the underdogs (especially the LFC supporters as Korea played in all red) place went mental when they went to a 3-0 lead but business as usual resumed Portugal came back to win 5-3:(

A great experience and deffo bragging rights when school started in September.

Took weeks to get the Goodison "whiff" off me afterwards though :D
