LFCMike
Liverpool 1-2 Derby 1998. I remember Derby went two up and Wanchope scored one of them. Redknapp scored a consolation for Liverpool late on
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 22, 2021 Subscriber Share Posted January 22, 2021 Everton 1-0 Udinese - pre season 2005. I would have been 12. Simon Davies scored the only goal in the last minute. The friendly was a part of the deal to bring Per Kroldrup to Everton and was one of his only actual appearances for the club. Probably Moyes' worst signing in his 11 years at the club.

Carnivore Chris
I can't remember who it was against, but taken to a Preston match at deepdale with my dad. I caught hyperthermia and ended up in hospital. That would have probably been 1989 or so, maybe 1990. I can't even remember it. First went to watch Rovers in 92, against Wimbledon. Mpache
Peru 3-1 Venezuela in the 2004 Copa America I think. Certainly my earliest memory. I don't remember if I had gone to any games prior to that. I'm the kid on the very right.

Subscriber nudge+ Posted January 23, 2021 Subscriber Share Posted January 23, 2021 Don't know which year exactly, must have been either late 80s or early 90s. My grandpa regularly took me with him to the matches of our obscure local team that he used to play for.
Michael
It was a friendly at Wembley, England 3-1 Switzerland. Terry Venables was England manager and Roy Hodgson was the Switzerland manager. I think it was the match that Steve Stone scored his first goal for England.

Moderator Tommy Posted January 23, 2021 Moderator Share Posted January 23, 2021 Just now, Michael said: Was that when Darko Pancev, the former Ballon d'Or runner up played for Dusseldorf? Yes! We called him Pannemann Pancev, which roughly translates into goofy man Pancev, because he was pretty terrible for us.

Subscriber Dan+ Posted January 23, 2021 Subscriber Share Posted January 23, 2021 https://www.premierleague.com/match/3007 Main memory from it was one of the two teams getting 5 or 6 corners in a row and I was baffled at what was going on. "ANOTHER CORNER?" I kept saying, as somebody who didn't really understand it back then.

Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted January 24, 2021 Subscriber Share Posted January 24, 2021 Went to Shk. Zayad Stadium with my dad in 1995 to watch some games (local teams) but before that went to some stadiums in India too with my dad. Was lots of fun because they used to be packed for local games back then not so much so anymore.
SchalkeUK
Just after the war my dad got tickets for the final and I went with him on the train to London to watch Charlton and Derby County. As a kid I had always listened for the Charlton results and when we played card games they were always my team so it was like going to a whole new world. I was totally smitten with Sam Bartram and remember when the ball burst and no one could convince me that he wasn't so strong the he had squeezed it so hard that that was why it went down. End of April, 1946 was my introduction to footy and three years later I travelled on the first youth Exchange visit from England to Germany and stayed with a new friend in Castrop-Rauxel - he was one of the 'Knappen' and I was persuaded to join and taken to see Schalke play on what is now the old ground/field near the Veltins. The only player I could remember was a guy whose name was almost English - the Sandman and I've been stuck with 04 since then! Time flies..... Laughed my arse off with that one, it's funny how when we were wee nippers how our imagination can run away with us in what we believe.

That would have been an experience. Actually yes Chris, I saw all the games played at Goodison that summer. I still have all the ticket stubs. All the group matches plus semi between West Germany and the USSR but the best was the QF between Portugal and North Korea. Portugal were big favourites with Eusebio, everyone behind the underdogs (especially the LFC supporters as Korea played in all red) place went mental when they went to a 3-0 lead but business as usual resumed Portugal came back to win 5-3 A great experience and deffo bragging rights when school started in September. Took weeks to get the Goodison "whiff" off me afterwards though
