What a coincidence we also have to play Spurs and Manchester United away as well. I am not looking forward to the latter of those two games. Plus, its not like Arsenal's run to the end is any easier either.

Arsenal are not in it, they don't have the right mentality as proven today, that was a must win game for them and us and they turn up like Stoke xD

I definitely think they have the harder run in of games left but then I look at your fixture list and its quite easy compared to us and them.

It’s not over by a mile. All three sides will drop points in the run in. But to be two points clear of Arsenal and three of City is a good place to be right now.

Personally don't see a massive deal as to Arsenal being cautious to get a draw. Their record at City is horrendous, so a point is decent for them. Yeah ok, it's a gamble that hands control to Liverpool for now, might backfire but it could be a good calculated gamble by the end, we'll see.

Let's be honest, if Trossard plays in Martinelli there for that chance near the end, they've actually put in the perfect away performance. Fine margins.

I thought City looked flat and out of ideas tbh. Foden and KDB were nullified and City really missed Walker's overlapping runs. Build up was too slow.

City also miss a specialist LB too for me.

So often it's Ake or Gvardial who are CB's by trade, and they just have to check back and play the ball inside. Don't offer nothing on the outside to the man wide left.

Some serious hyperbole here. Liverpool have dropped points in almost a third of their games this season so you can't assume they'll win 9 in a row from here. They've got to go to Man Utd who they haven't beaten in either game this season, Everton who are shite but where they often draw, Villa who beat both Arsenal and City at Villa Park and West Ham and Fulham won't be pushovers either. Spurs at home too.

Yes it's technically "in their hands" but there's a quarter of the season left. It's not like there's 3-4 games to go.

The thing that stood out to me about both teams here is that City are still in transition and just don’t have the consistency or superiority they had last season, and I think a lot of that has been to do with missing Jack Grealish. He didnt look sharp when he came on but his inclusion instantly pushed Arsenal back and put the game in City’s hands. Obviously there is also the matter of new players like Kovacic, Doku and Nunes integrating whilst previous big name players have left.

For Arsenal, they just lack star power. There was no one in that team today who you thought would win them the game. Saliba and Odegaard you could argue as being or being close to world class, but they have too many players who are just not at that level yet. Namely Trossard, Jesus and Saka in their attack today. But the list does go on. And that is the difference at the very top. It’s why I’ve predicted Liverpool to finish above Arsenal this season, ofc with 8 games to go I could still be wrong, but they have world class talent that get you over the line.

The City team they beat at Villa park though was heavily depleted with injury's, i think Liverpool will win that game

Yeah there’s still a ways to go and all 3 teams are capable of either going on a run or dropping points that will make or break their league hopes. We have a minor advantage right now, but there’s still a lot of football to be played.

Fairly sure Rodri was suspended. De Bruyne was out for a while. Not sure Doku & Grealish are that influential. Mahrez & Gundogan didn't count. For me it was more that Villa were absolutely flying at that moment, and Pep did not take it seriously enough & was messing around playing 6 defenders with none of Kovacic, Nunes or Phillips 'trusted'. And he got burned for it by a Villa side with 4 CM's & 2 season long injuries.

At the same time, Villa have dropped off since very significantly. I am looking at Man City (a), Arsenal (a) & Liverpool (h) as any points being a bonus.

We if we get through the rest of this week and come away with 6 more points, my confidence will increase substantially, but I’ll never say “it’s ours to lose” :8_laughing:

I’m just praying that Villa kick on from the Wolves results and give City a massive headache on Wednesday, they are more than capable of beating them as things stand. Also, Luton are gonna beat Arsenal 5-1.

I do hope Liverpool win it. Arsenal aren’t negative, but they do choose to play negatively at times like this and it’s just boring to see. Hopefully the team that dares to win the league does.

Think playing Lewis & Alvarez in midfield was mainly why we didn't do well in that game and you was in top form but like you say, Rodri is massive for how we play and we normally lose when he's not been playing this season.

Big game midweek and one which Villa could win, is Watkins injured?

I'll text him and let you know.
