Whiskey
I'm absolutely fucking gutted, like honestly so cheesed off. This was probably the golden age of United's banter era, they can only top this if they hire Southgate. A minutes silence at all Premier League grounds as a mark of respect to Erik's services to sheer banter.

Which means a lot of their players will get a massive kick up the backside.

I am just waiting for the Ole Gunnar syndrome to set in with Ruud, Ole was made temp manager and did well winning all his matches then as soon as he was made manager on a full-time basis the players just stopped playing and Ole ended up getting the bullet. I hope Ruud does well as him and Cantona are my all-time favourite players.
LFCMike
Van Nistelrooy will get a few good results, Rio Ferdinand will declare 'Man Utd are back' and they'll give it to Van Nistelrooy permanently before it all goes tits up a few months down the line.
Smiley Culture
What a way to spunk £220m+ up the wall by INEOS, though. INEOS didn’t want Ten Hag, spent the summer going after Tuchel and then had to go with their tail between their legs to apologise and to give Ten Hag the option on his contract as an apology. Firstly, was United’s shortlist of managerial targets a list of one? Surely, they had more options or targets than just Tuchel? INEOS then backed this summer’s signings, including yet more Dutch shite, costing them approximately £200m in the process. They also then brought in a load of coaching staff, you’d expect that Ten Hag had some say on who/what roles, so that’s probably another few million in wages spent. INEOS wrote the season off in July. Ten Hag probably did too. He knew he wasn’t wanted by the board and surely knew it was a matter of time before his even juicier payoff than he was due pre-contract option. And that is what happened with Ole, tbh I think United should get an experienced former manager in charge and keep Ruud there to get better experience. Lucas
Van Nistelrooy will probably start ok. 6 of the next 7 in all fixtures are at Old Trafford and they have purposely gave him games against Leicester, Ipswich and Everton in the league coming up to install confidence. Not for one minute saying ETH didn't deserve to go, however, as per usual, you'll definitely see a few of the players who didn't like the manager suddenly try much harder now, most notably Rashford, whose literally been hiding under a rock for a while now. Always sickens me when players are so precious that they hide behind a manager and play within themselves, just to turn it on when a new man comes in. Feels so false. Reluctant Striker
Being 14th after 9 games is taking Man United to depths they just can not accept. And just so much seems so wrong at the club. On the other hand, in an era of Man City, with Liverpool & Arsenal as nearest challengers, is 1 league cup & 1 FA Cup, regardless of performance, playing style & league position, sort of good? Would things be easier for a manager at Spurs or Chelsea with 2 trophies? I'd give it 50-50 if a new manager gets them moving back up, or continues to stagger around feeling deeply unsatisfied with only challenging for the lesser trophies. Would Spurs or Chelsea take two trophies but their worst final league position in decades followed by their worst start since a time where Jimmy Savile was seen as a great bloke and people wanted to be in Gary Glitter’s gang? I suspect not.
6666
van Nistelrooy's plan worked. He must've known Ten Hag wouldn't survive long. A shame, would've at least liked him to get a few more months.

More recently & relevantly the 2020/21 season featured Arsenal finishing 8th after spending an extended part of early season much lower, with all kinds of angsty fans & fairly sure had Xhaka giving some back to the fans. With Arteta as manager. To follow in your more avant garde style, Huw Edwards was the Welsh & white Trevor McDonald that recently..
