I'm not pretending anything. We could have done better, mixed with we have been unfortunate, mixed with we have fucked up.

It's not even debatable Mike. Fucking whining in every Liverpool related topic is though.

You just always seem very defensive over the club. It's not unfortunate, it's incompetence

It's unfortunate that we had a £72m bid for a midfielder rejected. I agree we could have done better in other business.

And yes I'm protective, possibly to my own detriment sometimes.

What did we learn from today? Pretty much what we already knew. The back 3 looked solid, Fletcher had a strong debut and added some control to our play. Shaq seemed up for it and showed glimpses of skill, Pickford was purely lucky to save that shot. Pieters is not the answer to left wing back. Berahino struggles to play as a lone striker really he just is garbage, Joselu is going to have to start if Hughes demands we play 1 striker. If sparky wasnt' daft we'd play Joselu/Crouch with Berahino. Lastly we don't hit the target enough and there are very few goals in the team, one shot on goal? We completed 1 of 27 crosses christ...

The only way this team stays up is if the backline stay healthy and literally play Pulisesque footywe'll have a shit ton clean sheets, then hopefully somehow scratch out some 1-0 victories.

Nah mate.

So this is what defending looks like? I'm bored.

Classic Pep tactics. Pass it around until the opposition are in a state of boredom, apathy and suicide which is the signal to play a through ball.

Should we have had back ups?

Chelsea vs Burnley

Players weren't booed off, everything was aimed at the referee. I'll have to watch the incidents back but I haven't experienced that much hostility towards a referee at Stamford Bridge since Ovrebo.

Cahill's controversially sent off yes but the mentality of our players after that in the first half was dreadful, absolutely dreadful and that's what ultimately lost us the game in my opinion. This isn't knee jerk as I've questioned the mentality and quality of some these players on numerous occasions last season as well, there's no way the team of Lampard, Terry, Cole, Ballack, Cech etc would have conceded three there, there's no way they would have let Arsenal come back in that Community Shield game, and there's no way they would have performed like our current squad did in the first half of the FA Cup final. We were more than capable of beating Burnley with ten, all Burnley did was put three crosses in the box and scored three goals, we cannot defend a cross to save our lives at the moment. Worse thing is, it's so obvious Burnley play that way as well, long direct balls and crosses into the box, defend that and they don't have much else. Of course the board haven't helped either but any team we put out today should have been capable of beating Burnley, in fact I still would have fancied us with ten men. Also, the standard of football in the match today was border line Sunday league at times.

Not sure Cahill's was particularly controversial...pretty clear cut red card

I think you're over rating Pickford a bit there...

Watch it again: https://www.clippituser.tv/c/vgxnwq

You don't get many lucky saves aside from those that sort of hit the goalkeeper from point blank. That's a quality save at full stretch, react a split second slower and that's 1-1.

Typical game for us against Stoke. Scrappy and horrible to watch just got to take the chances that come to you and we did.

Defensively we were very good even with the poor system at up until the half time. Jagielka as disgraceful as he was with the ball was good without it.

Always sceptical of two defensive midfielders against teams like Stoke at home but both were good again.

DCL plays better in his natural position, crazy, I know.

Rooney ran the game, best player on the pitch by miles. Keep it up and you're alright for me.
