The culture is obviously different in America and someone having a gun doesn't automatically mean that they want to kill or rob someone. Responsible gun owners obviously exist and they obviously don't want to be painted in the same light as mass shooters which is totally understandable but that doesn't mean that you don't try and tackle mass shootings by making it more difficult for someone to commit a mass shooting. Is a responsible gun owner's option to own an assault rifle or an assault weapon of any kind more important than combating mass shootings? Do responsible gun owners even take up the option of owning assault rifles or assault weapons?

He said he was fighting against a Hispanic invasion, sounds like some US far right shit to me

Well when your president calls Hispanics Rapists and Murderers, then you have a serious issue on you hands.

White Supremacy is now firmly rooted in US society and they have a massive problem to sort it out by eliminating enablers like the president himself from the media platform and power.

A terrorist has to be politically motivated.

By the same token you could just as easily say islamic fundamentalists are driven by mental illness and their hatred for gays/christians/atheists whatever, which isn't strictly a political platform.

Wanting to kill as many Mexicans as possible to stop immigration might sound too far-fetched to be a political programme, but Bin Laden's most "moderate" demand (that the US withdraws from Saudi Arabia) was also a complete fantasy that was never going to be achieved.

Why do people bother arguing about American gun laws? It's never going to change. They can't change.

A lot of Americans still think they are living in the Wild, Wild, West with guns & holsters, rifles and a load of Wyatt Earps and Pat Garretts riding around and keeping the peace, the problem nowadays is they still have their guns & holsters, rifles but also Beretta's, Glock M007 handguns etc, M16A4, Mikhail Kalashnikov, AK_47 rifles etc...it's fucking stupid and frightening, and the biggest dick of them all is king of the cowboys and who thinks he is Wyatt Earp reborn is...

When the actual current, sitting POTUS can stand in a "rally" (the fact its even called that alone is terrifying) in front of a **** off great big national flag and spout racist rhetoric while his "fans" chant SEND HER BACK - what the **** chance have we got?

When the UK is run by a man who's called Muslim women bank robbers, the Turkish president a goat ****er, black people as having watermelon smiles, Papua New Guineans cannibals and gay men "bumboys" - what the **** chance have we got?

I'm not hesitant in the absolute slightest to place blame for Christchurch, El Paso et all on Trump and his ilk. When you normalise hate and hate speach you embolden radicals, it's no different at all to some Islamist cleric giving some vitriolic speach about hating the West and a few weeks later some suicide bomber blowing up in a market square.

Same crazy, different colour.

I want the media to start throwing that fucking term around. Because that's what's going on in the US.

Caroline Lucas is calling for an all-female cabinet to beat Brexit:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/aug/11/cabinet-women-no-deal-brexit-caroline-lucas

Oh yeah, it's also coincidentally all-white. And all-middle-class. And mostly pro-austerity.

Whoops.

I love it when middle-class liberals accidentally let the world see a bit too much of the inner workings of their minds.

She's made a bit of a fool of herself here. Despite occasionally voting Green, I'm yet to be convinced that they are actually the allies of working class people they proclaim to be. There is a strong whiff of the middle class liberal about them, focus on stuff that makes them look 'right on' but their backgrounds are generally privileged.

I used to be a big fan of hers but the Greens have just degenerated into farce. Turns out you can't build a progressive movement from middle-class paternalism.

They're evidently not serious about stopping No Deal, and Labour are by far the more environment-conscious party. It's sad to see.

The most unsurprising news of the year. I reckon we will never know the names of all the scums he provided young girls to, apart from the few rumours.

🤣 When the socialists fall victim to their own class prejudices.

I'm not saying that middle-class people aren't any use. I'm just saying that the Green approach of trying to save the world without ever leaving the nicer parts of Bristol isn't going to lead anywhere positive.

Labour has a lot of middle-class leadership but also more working-class senior leadership than anybody else, and also the most working-class members - meaning that Labour is the only party which actually involves large numbers of working-class people in designing policy.

You've got to have a mix of perspectives - even old Karl himself was middle-class 9_9
