I just read a report on a sample analysis (355 cases); over 99% of those who died in Italy suffered from other illnesses. Here are the exact numbers: Ischemic heart disease: 33.0%, Atrial fibrosis: 24.5%, Stroke: 9.6%, Hypertension: 76.1%, Diabetes: 35.5%, Dementia: 6.8%, COPD: 13.2%, Active Cancer in the Past 5 Years: 20.3%, Chronic Liver Disease: 3.1%, Chronic renal disease: 18.0% Percentage of those who died with 0 other diseases: 0.8%, With 1 other disease: 25.1%, with 2 other diseases: 25.6%, with 3 or more other diseases: 48.5% Link to the official report: https://www.epicentro.iss.it/coronavirus/bollettino/Report-COVID-2019_17_marzo-v2.pdf Doesn't make it less terrifying though.5 points

Donated 50 pounds today. Not the first time I've done this on a forum (ask Storts). I'm feeling generous and want to help for once, even despite not getting along with everyone on here. Hope that helps enough for a bit more.4 points

This is not surprising. The world must not forget China's part in this pandemic, especially now when it's attempting a nice propaganda to whitewash it's terrible conduct during the initial outbreak in its countries. We all know what happened to the whistleblower doctors.3 points

Well, me and the family are officially self isolating for the next 14 days, my mother has a cough and flu like symptoms. As is a colleague from work, who’s husband was sent home from his job for coughing. Advised by NHS to stay home, and work also told us not to go in, not that I would have. Ive just had 10 days holiday so I don’t feel ready for more time off work, but to hell if I’m putting anybody at risk. For the record, I do not believe my mother has contracted the virus, she has a cough but no complaints of difficulty breathing and we tested her temperature and it was completely normal. BUT, better to be safe than sorry.2 points

According to the tweet bellow, in terms of air quality, Northern Italy is probably the worst place in Europe. Also, I´ve tried to check if this makes sense and it does. 13 of the 50 most polluted cities in Europe are in Italy. https://www.iqair.com/world-most-polluted-cities?continent=59af92ac3e70001c1bd78e52&country=&state=&page=1&perPage=50&cities= I´m not saying this is the main cause, but there must be something to do, at least. It could also be a factor in Iran. Tehran is surrounded by mountains, right?2 points

Back to work for me..... They produced a list at work of people that are most vulnerable or high risk that might have Health problems so I told my boss to put me down for all of them.... Going to be a bugger trying to explain to the wife why I am HIV positive but I will cross that bridge when I get to it...2 points

I live in a small town, so I´m not sure. But yes, the mood in the country is terrible. Bolsonaro is paranoid and totally out of touch with reality. He is surrounded by sycophants who are loyal to him but not much more, they are incredibly stupid. Do you remember that scenes from "Der Untergang" where Hitler says that after Steiner´s attack all will be fine? This is Bolsonaro at the moment. He thinks the coronavirus crisis is a scheme designed to take the power away from him. There is that feeling of impending doom, with the report of the first deaths in Brazil and no signs of leadership from the president. People here are angry and scared.2 points

Tehran’s got awful air quality, but I don’t know about Qom (the epicentre for the disease in Iran).1 point

Yes, Northern Italy is very polluted, as that is where many of their industries are located. But the Balkans and Southern Poland are the other areas of Europe that are very polluted.1 point

It makes sense as to why it might affect people so greatly because the underlying health conditions are probably already present. Lung/respiratory conditions are hardly helped when it comes to living in poor air quality.1 point

Welcome to the fanclub, mate. Nice to see that like me you too loved Princess Mononoke the most. Also, if you have time to waste you should read about alternate interpretations of some of these movies. Apparently, Spirited Away is a fucked up story about prostitution and the innocent My Neighbour Totoro can be deemed as dark. Lastly, I don't know if you have watched Grave of Fireflies. If you haven't then you should.1 point

Might be partially related to the fact that one of the early clusters started in a hospital... Probably a lot of vulnerable people got exposed there contributing to such a huge number of fatalities.1 point

My dad drives as well. His taxi firm are apparently cutting the weigh-in he needs to pay, but still it's going to be tough for him.1 point

Thats the thing, these guys were forced to do it because who knows what would have happened to the 10 people who were waiting for the supplies. And ... they dont plan on sharing the schematics or profiting from it. I mean they made 10 dollars ladies and gents I mean that really puts a dent in a company that has sold hundreds by now?1 point

https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/4fdc0d03d3a34aa485de1fb0d2650ee0 Interesting timeline tracker for the virus. It makes sense how the spread got the way it did now. That transit slider shows it. What will be interesting once this is all done is how we view travel and safety precautions from clearing aircrafts for landing in other cities. I'd imagine a lot of this could have been avoided had they locked down travel faster.1 point

Hi guys. Apologies for the Mafia War exit. Sadly, my mum passed away about an hour ago after a long fight with cancer. Might seem mad that someone would be on a forum just an hour later, but a lot of you are like a second family after 13 years. I’ll survive and I’ll be back sooner than you think. Take care X1 point
