Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted June 29, 2021 Subscriber Posted June 29, 2021 After the performances in the group stage, Southgate has been criticised despite qualifying with 7 points. I think he's getting more stick now than at any other point he's been in charge. I think if England go out tonight or scrape through with another "professional performance" and lose to Sweden or Ukraine, you'll be surprised by how quickly the tide will turn on him. I don't think it'll quite be enough to see him sacked but the "Southgate you're the one" period seems to be over already and the end of the cycle will come sooner than expected.
Michael Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Southgate isn't going anywhere soon in my opinion. Unless we lose something like 4 or 5 nil today, only then will the pressure on the FA likely be too much to stick by him. But Southgate will in all likelihood still be our manager at the upcoming World Cup.
Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted June 29, 2021 Subscriber Posted June 29, 2021 Positive changes. I still would have started Volland as Rucksack said yesterday but this still looks good.
Honey Honey Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Gareth Southgate has worn a paper bag over his head in public ever since euro 96. Chance to take it off tonight
Michael Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 As Delia Smith used to say...LETS BE HAVING THEM!! Ok, I am off!
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted June 29, 2021 Subscriber Posted June 29, 2021 I have just realised that not only has Southgate left out his only out and out striker behind Kane off the bench, there are two goalkeepers instead. Putting my Everton/DCL bias aside, how is this anything less than total madness? No injury involved that we've heard. Just seems bizarre.

Danny Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 3 man centre back, 2 DMs and somehow we still get cut through the middle with ease there
Administrator Stan Posted June 29, 2021 Author Administrator Posted June 29, 2021 Already feel like we're on the back foot. Struggling to get a hold on the game.
Administrator Stan Posted June 29, 2021 Author Administrator Posted June 29, 2021 Germany's kit is sexy
DeadLinesman Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Adidas save all their best kits for Germany and Bayern. Bastards.

Administrator Stan Posted June 29, 2021 Author Administrator Posted June 29, 2021 Maguire getting some decent opportunities in their box
Administrator Stan Posted June 29, 2021 Author Administrator Posted June 29, 2021 Upping the tempo now. Let's hope we can capitalise on this pressure.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted June 29, 2021 Subscriber Posted June 29, 2021 Good clearance from Maguire there.
Administrator Stan Posted June 29, 2021 Author Administrator Posted June 29, 2021 Kane still struggling. Off the ball movement is lacking, either to create an option or take defenders away from Saka and Sterling.
Bluebird Hewitt Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Werner close there. Continuing as he did with Chelsea by spurning chances.
Whiskey Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Playing without a striker here, Harry Kane an absolute passenger again.
Cicero Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 He’ll probably win a penalty or distract a defender as opposed to scoring a goal
Danny Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Kane is creating more work for Saka and Sterling because Germany’s central defence are so comfortable with him around
