Rick
I'll be happy with Butland because he's young, confident and Vegas tons of potential. ALL things that Mignolet is not.
Cicero
With rumors of Hazard, Courtois, and Conte leaving in the summer, think the 2018 window may be our most important yet. Cant wait for the amount of Drinkwaters and Zappacostas we will buy with the Hazard money
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 30, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted December 30, 2017 Tosun to sign on Tuesday apparently. Our next biggest priority is a left back. I'm happy to get a second choice in now because it's January then get a proper replacement for Baines in summer. We've been linked with Shaw, Cresswell and Van Aanholt but the latter was a while ago. Benfica fans have for long considered him to not be good enough to start for us and all of a sudden he's linked to a Premier League club. He's probably past his prime as well. Not an exciting signing for you guys imo but who knows, maybe he can do a job. He's a good defender altough most often that not poor at set pieces. Smart with the ball to be fair, but not brilliant going forward as he lacks that extra pace and "arrogance" to his game. He sounds like quite literally the exact right back we already have. Doesn't make sense to me. We need someone in the Trippier mould (although I'd tell Spurs to stick it for £30mil, ridiculous price for a full back). I don't mind it, either. A player like that gives defensive balance considering we have a very attacking full-back in Fuchs and/or Chilwell. Simpson is superb at covering at these times when the LB goes up or if we're exposed down that left side.

I think it makes it harder for Mahrez though not having the support from a right back when going forward. It's one less option for him and one less player for the opposition to mark. I'd go with someone more attacking just so we have the options like we do on the left side.

I do think we've got to be careful when we do it but it gives the opposition something else to worry about.

If we are going to throw that kind of money around on a keeper then it might as well be on one of the top keepers in Europe, not one that can barely break into the England team and who concedes 4-5 almost every week. Not for me.

Happy Blue
Alexis Sanchez 'desperate for January move to Manchester City' © Offside By Barney Corkhill, Assistant Editor Filed: Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 13:47 UK Last Updated: Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 13:48 UK The agent of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has reportedly contacted Manchester City over a possible January move for his client. City were understood to be on the verge of signing Sanchez during the summer window, with the Chilean even putting pen to paper on a contract with the club only for Arsenal to pull out of the deal once they were unable to find a replacement. Sanchez was reportedly left furious with Arsenal's refusal to sell him and Goal claims that he is now determined to secure an exit when the transfer window reopens on Monday. Arsenal could also be willing to sell the 29-year-old rather than losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season. Reports have suggested that there is a growing rift between Sanchez and a number of his teammates due to the Chile international's attitude following a string of unconvincing performances. –– ADVERTISEMENT –– City had initially been willing to wait until the summer to sign Sanchez on a free transfer - despite expected competition from Paris Saint-Germain - but the player himself is reportedly desperate to push through a January move. Sanchez has scored seven Premier League goals for Arsenal so far this season, including a match-winning brace against Crystal Palace last time out. SirBalon
Came out in The Sun yesterday and it's been echoed in all the Spanish sports daily newspapers today... Apparently Pep Guardiola has made it his priority and ordered the club to start any sort of negotiation with FC Barcelona for the acquisition of their France international centre-back Samuel Umtiti. Obviously Barça aren't going to listen to any offer as the money aspect of it won't interest them and Umtiti has become way too valuable. But as with all Spanish football clubs, Umtiti has a buy-out clause that was set within his present contract at the time of signing him two years ago... The 24 year old's contract runs until 2021 and more importantly that buy-out clause was set at the time of the amount of €60m (£56m) which as things stand in what's happened since in the transfer market is pittance where his real value by comparison is concerned. If Virgil van Dijk has gone to Liverpool for £75m, then Umtiti should be worth £150m but unfortunately things don't work that way and if in the very unlikely scenario Manchester City were able to convince the player to join them, £56m would be amazingly a coup in today's transfer market. This will obviously push FCB into extending Samuel Umtiti's current contract and in so doing raise his buy-out clause to current standards and make it all a no go area for anyone trying to sign a player in that manner. Obviously signing a player from La Liga by activating the buy-out clause means that there are taxes to be paid separately which come in at 46% and would take the full amount plus the £56m to £81m which would beat Van Dijk's present world record transfer fee for a centre-back at £75m. @The Rebel CRS because I know you hate this buy-out clause scenario mate. Administrator Stan Posted December 31, 2017 Administrator Share Posted December 31, 2017 Buy out clause is very cheap for a defender of Umtiti's quality. If I owned Barca is he offering him a new contract to increase that clause and keep him at the club

Hazard’s father has also been out in the media in Belgium courting a move for his son to Real this past week.

Matt Law also stated we are currently working on a new contract for Hazard, so maybe he's holding out for more money or waiting to see what Real do with Zidane. What I do know for sure, is if we do sell Hazard it won't be for 130 million.
