Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 10, 2018 Author Subscriber Share Posted November 10, 2018 Results - Gameweek Four Casualties (3) Just four weeks in, this round of the Last Man Standing League is winding its way to an end, as two of the three teams that received backing this week were soundly beaten. The "pick whoever's playing Fortuna Dusseldorf" strategy came unstuck at last this week, as a pair of yellow cards for Hertha's Max Mittelstaedt in the first half set their newly-promoted hosts up for a convincing 4-1 win and inflicted a second consecutive three-goal hammering for the visitors, much to the chagrin of @Lucas and @Viva la FCB. The last woman standing in this edition of the competition is also standing no more. @nudge backed Nurnberg to to defeat Stuttgart at home, but goals for Baumgartl and Thommy for the visitors completed an unlikely double success for Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, who started the weekend joint bottom of the table with just 5 points each from their opening ten games. Bad luck folks, you are out of this round of the competition, scoring three points for your three successful picks, plus one bonus point for what is now a guaranteed joint 3rd place. I will tag you all at the beginning of the next round when the time comes. Survivors (2) For the first time in TF365 Last Man Standing history, we are left with a one-to-one shootout. @Teso dos Bichos and @The Palace Fan will duel for the number one spot in this round after Reiss Nelson's late winning goal for Hoffenheim against Augsburg put a stop to the competition's host sweating profusely over the potential logistics of running a five way tie breaker after the international break. The two remaining survivors have relied on an identical Dortmund-Bayern-Gladbach-Hoffenheim combination to make it this far, and will eventually have to choose different paths one way or another to try and make the final step into the winners' circle. Congratulations to both of you, you now have a basic score of 4 points and counting, and are both guaranteed to score at least 2 further bonus points for coming in at least 2nd place. You have just under two weeks before the next set of fixtures gets underway. Take your time, if you wish, and choose wisely! Preview - Gameweek Five Below is a full set of fixtures for the next gameweek with some odds to give you an idea of who the bookies are backing. Remember, neither of you can choose Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Gladbach or Hoffenheim again. You are also under no obligation to pick different teams to each other if you really want to drag it out! Bayer Leverkusen (1.50) v VfB Stuttgart (6.00) Augsburg (2.30) v Eintracht Frankfurt (3.00) Bayern Munich (1.062) v Fortuna Dusseldorf (29.00) Hertha Berlin (2.90) v TSG Hoffenheim (2.30) Mainz (5.00) v Borussia Dortmund (1.60) Wolfsburg (2.90) v RB Leipzig (2.35) Schalke (1.40) v Nurnberg (7.00) SC Freiburg (2.87) v Werder Bremen (2.37) Borussia M'gladbach (1.50) v Hannover 96 (6.50) Best of luck! Surely it should be now in case they both fail to pick a winner this time? Only if everyone loses that's left. They both get the opportunity to score more points if they are able to string together 6 or 7 results in a row. I see what you're saying though, doing it this way adds on an extra week unnecessarily if they both lose. However using that logic we should all pick a first goalscorer every week in case all 20 people get knocked out at once, unless I put some sort of limit in of when it's down to less than 5 people or something. I'll sleep on it.
Dave
I must say I don't feel comfortable going up against @Teso dos Bichos given his track record of brilliant predictions across the forums. I'm not surprised he's out lasted every German member in their area of expertise, and I fully expect him to win more prediction competitions. I choose Bayer Leverkusson. Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 25, 2018 Author Subscriber Share Posted November 25, 2018 Results - Gameweek Five Casualties (0) There is no blood spilt this week in the Last Man Standing competition, leaving frustrated enthusiasts across the forum sat on the periphery, watching on like a substitute who can't get a game. Survivors (2) The first week of the duel between our two remaining contenders ends in a stalemate, with neither man facing any serious stress on their way into week six. Two goal in the last 15 minutes from Kevin Volland saw Leverkusen dispatch Stuttgart on Friday night, leaving @The Palace Fan with the opportunity to put his feet up and cross his fingers ahead of the weekend, but @José, whose commitment to the cause is in no doubt following his change of profile picture earlier this week, also converts in this first round of sudden death, Schalke racing into an early lead against Nurnberg this evening and going onto beat their opponents 5-2 with a man advantage. Congratulations to both, you have now scored five points each, with at least two additional bonus points to arrive for the runner up and three for the winner. May the tug of war continue! Preview - Gameweek Six Gents, please choose your weapons for the upcoming gameweek. A reminder below of which teams you are unable to pick again after they carried you this far, followed by the odds on next weekend's fixtures. @The Palace Fan - Dortmund, Bayern, Gladbach, Hoffenheim, Leverkusen @José - Dortmund, Bayern, Gladbach, Hoffenheim, Schalke Fixtures Fortuna Dusseldorf (2.50) vs Mainz (2.80) Borussia Dortmund (1.30) vs SC Freiburg (10.00) Hannover 96 (2.55) vs Hertha Berlin (2.75) VfB Stuttgart (2.45) vs Augsburg (2.87) Werder Bremen (7.50) vs Bayern Munich (1.33) TSG Hoffenheim (1.80) vs Schalke (4.20) RB Leipzig (1.90) vs Borussia M'gladbach (3.80) Eintracht Frankfurt (1.90) vs Wolfsburg (4.00) Nurnberg (3.80) vs Bayer Leverkusen (1.80) Good luck! Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 3, 2018 Author Subscriber Share Posted December 3, 2018 Results - Gameweek Six Once again, the Last Man Standing competition goes without a clean winner as this weekend's events send us into the depths of sudden death. Casualties (2... sort of) It was there, one hand on the trophy at half-time in tonight's fixture, but @José allows the final stage of the Last Man Standing Bundesliga edition to continue into a tie breaker, his chosen side Bayer Leverkusen bottling a 1-0 lead at Nurnberg, clearly buckling under the pressure after @The Palace Fan's Frankfurt suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Wolfsburg and opened the door for TF365's resident Mexican. The situation now, is that both of you can no longer add to your basic score of 5 points. However, we need to enter a tie break round to decide who is the Last Man Standing, claiming the three bonus points. You are required to choose a winning team this week, still one that hasn't got you this far, as well as a First Goalscorer of the matchday. It is up to you whether you try and pick an uncertain goalscorer from an early game or a nailed on goalscorer from a later game. Whoever's chosen player hits the target first of the two will determine the winner of the competition in the event of the chosen match winner failing to separate our two remaining contenders. If both of your teams win (or fail) and neither of your chosen goalscorers hit the target, in an attempt to wrap this up and get other people back involved, the next gameweek will see a draw hand you the victory if the other guy's team lose the match, for this gameweek only. If both of your picks get the same result, win, lose or draw, AND your chosen goalscorers both fail to find the net, then @José will be crowned champion as his pick drew this week and @The Palace Fan lost. I know that's a slightly unfair rule change without being warned but I have to prioritise getting this round done and dusted, hope that seems fair enough. Preview - Gameweek Seven @The Palace Fan - you cannot pick Dortmund, Bayern, Gladbach, Hoffenheim, Leverkusen or Frankfurt. @José - you cannot pick Dortmund, Bayern, Gladbach, Hoffenheim, Schalke or Leverkusen. Please choose a match winner and a first weekend goalscorer from the fixtures below, odds provided: Werder Bremen (1.60) vs Fortuna Dusseldorf (5.25) Bayer Leverkusen (1.61) vs Augsburg (5.00) Bayern Munich (1.10) vs Nurnberg (23.00) SC Freiburg (4.00) vs RB Leipzig (1.80) Schalke (3.20) vs Borussia Dortmund (2.15) Wolfsburg (3.00) vs TSG Hoffenheim (2.20) Hertha Berlin (2.75) vs Eintracht Frankfurt (2.50) Mainz (2.00) vs Hannover 96 (3.75) Borussia M'gladbach (1.44) vs VfB Stuttgart (6.50) Good luck! Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 8, 2018 Author Subscriber Share Posted December 8, 2018 Results - Tie Breaker The epic duel between @The Palace Fan and @José is concluded, and this iteration of the Last Man Standing competition finally has its champion. The Runner-Up They say Red Bull gives you wings, but it's RB Leipzig who went down in flames in their visit to Freiburg, @José's pick getting beaten handily 3-0. After a valiant campaign, TF365's resident Mexican will have to settle for second place on this occasion but takes home 2 bonus points in addition to the 5 he scored by surviving for the first five weeks of the competition. Congratulations and commiserations, @José! The Last Man There is only one GIF appropriate for this moment. @The Palace Fan got his 90 minute sweating session out of the way early this time around, backing Werder Bremen to beat Dusseldorf on Friday night. Although his chosen first goalscorer of the weekend Eggestein was not amongst the scorers in Werder's 3-1 success, Leipzig's loss on Saturday meant that the goalscorer tie breaker never came into play, and The Eagles finally have something to shout about this season as one of their own wins a TF365 Last Man Standing competition. Congratulations to @The Palace Fan, who takes home the full 3 bonus points to go with the 5 points scored for picking that many consecutive winners. Keep an eye out for an updated table to see what this means for the overall standings.
