BORUSSIA DORTMUND OFFER CHRISTIAN PULISIC AS BAIT IN EYE-POPPING CHELSEA SWAP DEAL

MARK TAYLOR  11:35, 27 Dec 2018

In one of the more surprising transfer rumours of the festive season, Borussia Dortmund are allegedly willing to let American international Christian Pulisic leave in a bid to tempt Chelsea to part with their highly-rated youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Pulisic is a player not short of admirers with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen on bringing him to Anfield and knows all about him from his time in the Bundesliga.

Such a move 12 months ago would have been unthinkable but Pulisic is no longer the first pick on the Dortmund teamsheet and he has made it known he'd be open to a potential love to guarantee regular first team football.

Metro reports that talks have already begun between the two clubs with Dortmund desperate to land 18-year-old winger Hudson-Odoi who is frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea. The former Napoli boss has given the player just two starts and Hudson-Odoi has noted the success of fellow Chelsea loanee Reiss Nelson and former Manchester City and England starlet Jadon Sancho in the German top flight.

News of Pulisic's availability could alert the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool as both clubs have been linked with a move for him in the past. Hudson-Odoi is also wanted by Bayern who face the prospect of losing two of their star players Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the summer and are on the lookout for potential replacements.

Chelsea would be reluctant to see another exciting young player go but the opportunity to bring in such a proven talent as Pulisic may be too tempting to resist.

Good deal for Dortmund and for him. For one reason or another he's just stopped progressing and they can't afford to disturb the team to give him more minutes when they're fighting for the title.

I'm sure he'll improve under Sarri, and Dortmund have cashed-in before his bad form started to dampen his appeal.

We still might have. Nothing concrete saying this is a definite thing.

It's an accidental news release. From a guy who then accidentally cooked dinner for his wife then accidentally went down to the pub for a pint....

Fill us in mate!

Pulisic's contract runs out in 2020, no? Considering that, and that he hasn't been that impressive this season makes it a great deal for Dortmund.

He is still young and quick and good with his feet, how he adapts to this league remains to be seen but despite his recent form he has a lot of promise.

Vast overpay all things considered but at least Chelsea have been willing to splash the cash to get one of their targets and try and improve. Rest of the top 6 compete in a different market to us and it's frustrating.

Then again, personally think he's massively overhyped for the age he is, the breakthrough he made and for being American. He wouldn't get anywhere near our first 11 currently. Chelsea had to replenish that frontline though, so for them I think it's a decent gamble to see if he can kick of meet his potential.
