Southampton losing Bertrand and Ings in this window, just checked their squad on Fantasy football, surely in the frame for the drop.

Great signing for Villa providing they can keep him fit.

Wow, that's a surprise. Literally no rumours or anything. Villa really splashing the Grealish cash around.

I hope we had a sell-on clause when we sold him

We had a 20% sell on clause, so it bags us 6m to spend on a new midfielder.

Or John Henry will be putting premium petrol in his yacht

I think Villa have to be taken seriously to finish top 6/7 after these signings. Yes they lose Grealish but spending in positions they need to improve.

I've read it's 20% of the profit

Wow, good signing for Villa. Competition for Watkins for the central role but also Watkins can play elsewhere in a front 3

Ouch, was hoping Ings might be our panic buy when Haaland and Lukaku fail.

Think we might be in trouble now on the striker front unless something very unexpected happens.

£30m for a 29 year old player in the last year of his contract with a patchy injury record isn't bad business for Saints to be fair.

I think you'll be getting Lukaku, think it's almost nailed on at this point now tbh. I know he didn't really cut it at Man Utd... but I think he'll do quite well at Chelsea.

The only reason Lukaku was shit at Manchester United is because he was bulked up and totally mismanaged.

Would do well if coached correctly.

Not a bad signing at all if he stays fit and as others have said, it's an old fashioned way of signing someone too with the fact nobody saw it coming.

It isn't if they stay up - which is a big if at this point now. I think some clubs could take the hit in that instance. I'm not sure Southampton can. They're firmly in the circling the bowl phase and it feels a matter of time until they go, and I think this is probably it.

We'll have to see who they bring in but they seem terrible at maintaining a decent squad. They were a fantastic side a few years ago as well. Everything people praise us for.

If they bring in a good central defender, it'll be very interesting to see what they do. Maybe not top 4 but I wouldn't rule them out of the Europa League spots.

Sometimes a 1 in 3 striker, sometimes a 1 in 2. At that price you'd want 1 in 2.

That may well be the difference between being upper and lower mid table now that Grealish isn't there.

That is true though good strikers can be hard to find.

I do like the look of Che Adams though looks short of a yard of pace.

In their favour the Saints have been good at bringing through unknowns so will be interesting to see how they shape up this season.
