To me it's just another example of how a non-western country is seen as one thing where everyone and everything must be connected. I'd say going and lending legitimacy to their football league, and being a part of their sportswashing, is the "crime" here, if there is one being committed. I'm staying out of that one to be honest. All it takes is time and reiteration for an idea to take hold. For instance The USA used to have over 35% of its workforce in unions, through steady discouragement and bad press that number is now under 10% with the idea itself being vilified. He would not have needed to learn a new language when he was young at Barcelona. He apparently did not feel at home in Paris. And Miami is actually majority Spanish. It reminds me of the South Park episode that this is from: "If Ruben Neves slums it in the Premier League, he'll only be able to afford a Gold Stream 3 for his private jet.
