What is the average height of a Mexican does anyone know?? The more I watch them the more I expect to see Snow White urging them to push forward on the sidelines...

Less than 1,70 i believe (general population, and i believe NT is not much higher neither).

Fair play to our hijos Mexico, shows that Germany is not so frightening when they don't have the refs on their pocket.

err made several saves from Kroos shots and other players' shots. Saved Ozil's (?) free-kick by tipping it on to the bar.

Yeah some were simple saves but he still had to save them!

Defenders deserve credit but you can't praise them and not give any credit to Ochoa.

Ah, i thought that free kick went directly to the bar. Didn't see the replay.

The shot Ochoa flicked onto the bar was an amazing save.

It´s easy to win in the warm brazilian winter, now I want to see how the germans do in a cold rainy night in Stalingrad!  :27_sunglasses:

Mexicans wouldn't have won had it been played in Stoke!

What are you on about? He did fuck all xD

Germany hardly threatened him today. If anything the defenders deserve credit. Before this game, they were inept. Here they were spot on.

My sentence makes very little sense, but I'm going to put that down ton exhaustion because I got home very late. But Ochoa made a lot of good saves so idk what you're saying.

Huge win for México.

When you think that one year ago, Germany defeated this México side 4-1 with their B team, Germans must be highly disappointed with this result.

First time that Germany lost their opening game, since 1982.

Let's see what Brazil does then. Spain and Portugal looking like the best teams so far or am I wrong?

It's still early days but by a long margin both Spain and Portugal are on a different level where form is concerned.  What's more... It was a matchup between two very competitive sides and both showed an extremely high level of competitiveness and  most of all, resourcefulness.

The plus side for Germany is that you can lose your first game but no more errors permitted... That's it!  Spain lost their first game in 2010 against Switzerland and went onto win it. Although Germany then pushed Mexico back into their half because the Central American side was exhausted, they didn't pepper Mexico like Spain did to Switzerland... Germany looked very unlike themselves where change of pace is concerned in midfield.

France lost to Senegal in 2002 after winning it in 1998. Amazing how football can throw up results like this.

Yeah... They say that in the group stage you want to sort it out straight away so that the final game can be more of a test game.  But a defeat at the start means no more errors.

can't remember last time this would have happened but there's not one German player I'd have in their opposition's side. Wouldn't swap any of the Mexicans for a Germany player.

Germany were bettered in pretty much every department and arguably they were lucky it wasn't more than 1-0.

Highlight of the thread is @Fairy In Boots failing with one Germany in Russia war gag but going back in for a second one anyway. Got to admire the persistence

It would have been 3 but the rainy night in Stalingrad was taken.
