I think he'll still be some way off Gerrard. And that's assuming he's playing 40 games a season over the course of the next four years. Don't disagree that he'll go down as one of the best though, certainly if we add another few trophies during that time1 point

A couple of months old but this video from Mars makes me tingle all over, I wished to fuck I was there just walking around...sigh. Tour Mount Sharp With Curiosity: This video tour highlights a new panorama from NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover, captured on July 3, 2021 (the 3,167th Martian day, or sol of the mission). If when I was 15 if some people groomed me to join the IRGC or MEK (probably the 2 closest things for an British-Iranian with a Shia Muslim background to ISIS cos Shias wouldn’t join ISIS as they think they’re infidels and would kill them upon attempting to join)… I’d probably have told them to fuck off. The reason my mum came to the UK in the first place rather than stayed at home is because Islamist shitheads ruined her country. I spent pretty much my whole life hearing about how they ruined the country. I assume most middle eastern immigrants to the UK (and the west generally) have similar experiences. They left to get their families away from that kind of bullshit that ruined their homeland. So maybe it’s her parents fault she wasn’t made more aware of why these people are dangerous weirdos. But while 15 is very young… it’s not young enough to be completely oblivious. I think most 15 year olds who’d have heard of ISIS should know they’re terrorist scum and shouldn’t be wanting to join them. When I was 15 I think Bush and Blair had pulled us into an illegal bullshit war that was on TV all the time (and set the stage for the creation of ISIS that she’d be joining in the future). I might not have known as much about what was going on in the world, but I certainly wasn’t completely oblivious to current events. And tbh, I don’t trust that the government would watch her like a hawk. The government’s had suspected terrorists come live in the UKand subsequently sat by as they’ve commit terror attacks.1 point

Everything you need to know about sex right here... Got to admit during the 'trying different flavours' section I was laughing and feeling disgust in equal measure... For all inexperienced. - 9GAG1 point

Things like this do raise the odd smile... Jorginho tweeting a quote from Rio Ferdinand back in 2019 after winning the Uefa player of the year award... " He gets no assists, He's not a great defender, Once a game gets like this against the big sides he gets overrun in midfield and he can't run"1 point

As someone who doesn't live directly in a city center, I can confirm that this is 100% correct:1 point

That's me had my second blood sample and check up by the nurse, weird set up though when visiting for an appointment, I was allowed in because of my condition where I needed a seat and not stand around outside and only let in when your appointment was due and then it was straight into the docs or nurse, I sat in an empty waiting room where once upon a time the surgery waiting area would be full and even magazines to read, not now, and when your appointment was over it was being led out to a fire exit.1 point

Whilst I did have a little laugh when I saw Guardiola's comments the other night, if I'm being serious, it's a bit out of order for a millionaire football manager having a go at fans for not always selling out isn't it? Especially during these times. But anyway, that's as far as I'll go sticking up for City fans given they'll turn up to Anfield next month singing the usual bollocks about unemployment and poverty.1 point

I've long looked at the way failures speak of their time at a club after they've been booted. It's often totally divorced from reality, full of clichés and blaming others. It makes sense to be like that because how else could you live with yourself. Imagine being a failure in your job where everyone around you thinks you are shit, that's not good for your mental health. You need some defence. Some cognitive twist. Otherwise you'll be depressed. The problem for Bruce, as it was for Pardew, is that he's long past his failure cut off point. He's still in the job so we are seeing the defence mechanisms while he still comes to work. Like Pardew a couple of wins here and there could buy some respite but it is all temporary because ultimately he's most likely not good enough for the job. At least there's no evidence now or in his past that he is.1 point

It's proper go back to your own country vibes. She's born and bred a British citizen, should never have been able to revoke her citizenship. Wouldn't have happened if she were white, would probably have been told to just read instead. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/sep/01/judge-orders-rightwing-extremist-to-read-classic-literature-or-face-prison1 point

Hang in tight their buddy, I have had my 2 Corona jabs but with all my medication I take to do with my COPD, asthma, sciatica, a heart failure condition I still get aches and pains and my muscles sore so I just plod along, I have a visit to the docs today for a check-up and give a blood sample so I have prepared myself and have not had a drink all week (alcohol), I have managed to get my weight down to 181 which is just around 13 stone so I am quite happy with that. I do drink a lot of water and I always make sure I have a bottle of water beside me in the lounge here and even when I go to bed but I always boil my water first from the kettle as I just don't touch the tap water, I just don't trust the water company that provides the water and don't believe them with all their 100% water being filtered and purified crap.1 point

So, just got back from Eastern Germany (Saxony). My first time in the former German Democratic Republic, and I didn't know what to expect. I was a kid when the Berlin Wall came down, and since then I always heard things about the Eastern Germans, and a lot of negative stigma too. I have to say I was absolutely positively surprised how friendly and warm harted the people were there. Super friendly and funny. Anyway, the town I stayed in, Bad Schlema, was small, but rich in history. It used to be a uranium ore mining town, and after they stopped mining, the whole place was radioactively contaminated. So they just put 8 meters of soil on top of it, to contain the radioactivity. So a big part of the town used to be a lot lower. You can still see the mountains in the background of the sign. But the whole town was just demolished and they put 8 meters of soil on top of it and turned it into a park. Quite a beautiful park too. Then I visited Zwickau, which seriously has one of the most beautiful old towns centers I've ever seen. Lots of beautiful old buildings, mixed with modern stuff, great gastronomy and just beautiful beer gardens were you could sit down and enjoy the vibe of the city. Another citiy I've visited was Chemnitz. It had a nice enough city center with beautiful old buildings. The Red Tower is the oldest building in town, from the late 12th century: But as soon as you left the city center, you could tell that it has it's rough parts too. They had a huge Karl Marx momument in the middle of the city, it was put up in the 70s, when the GDR was in full swing: But also some cute penguins: So yea, very interesting trip, especially when it comes to history. I ate at a Restaurant in a building that was a preschool for kids of the Soviet occupiers in the 50's. Will definitely go back and explore more one day. Anyway, here's a bonus pic of a cat that lived across the street from my flat, that I watched every morning. PS: Oh yea, I was there for Erzgebirge Aue vs. Fortuna Düsseldorf. But I kinda forgot that I was there since I experienced so much else.1 point

If I knew anyone on here wanted to go I would have bought them the tickets and posted them! I get early access to any Matchroom tickets so I got mine the day before they went on public sale. Even that was still hard! Me and 2 of my friends are going… I can not wait!!! For me it’s a 50/50 fight. Usyk is a better boxer than AJ, but hopefully AJ has too much overall for Usyk. Not heard anything as of yet regarding Vaccines, I’m lee to believe that these kind of passports will be introduced after this fight.1 point

Some of you know (I think), but my Dad was diagnosed with skin cancer a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday was his surgery and I went to see him today. Looks like they took off half his nose, but can't really see anything from all the heavy bandage. As someone who has been beyond blessed with healthy parents, this has been a wake up call for me this year after seeing my Dad get his ass kicked by COVID back in January and now this. But it does appear that they got all the cancer out after 2 attempts, but we'll know more once he recovers a bit more and goes in for his checkup.0 points

Leg break playing football when I was 21, crossfield ball came over my shoulder took it under control and tried to clip it inside this big centre back in one movement. Didn't bank on him diving straight into a tackle. It happened so fast but I remember feeling like my body had gone one way and my lower leg bend and then a sound like a branch snapping. In a panic I tried to lift myself up quickly but about three lads dived on me and held me down on the ground. I knew it was bad due to the pain but I was really worried because they were deliberately blocking the view of my leg. It was only when the paramedics arrived that it dawned on me how bad it was I'd shattered both the tibia and fibia just below the knee and my leg from what I was told was just flopping around as I tried in shock to get up. The next few weeks were absolutely hell, I had an operation a few days later and the pain I went through I will never ever forget. I remember crying in my bed for more pain relief but it being rejected as I'd has my morphine and pain killers, anyone who's been in that position they wear off and the morphine is on a timer so you can't have more in day than your allowed. I had two plates fitted either side off my tibia and fibia, the location of the break had caused damage to my ACL so I'd had work on that and had to have a bone graph of my hip as well for something or another. I've not got a 7 inch scar running from my knee down my shin and obviously a scar where they took some bone off my hip. Bad times.0 points
