To be fair, the Fantasy League thing didn't happen overnight if I remember correctly! We had no idea who had joined and gave it a fair amount of time for someone to let us know who it was and there was no response :what:

Nobody thought to @ me :(

Ronald Wesley is shown as a rather dumb fellow in the movie but in the book he's much from it. He's portrayed as someone with practical street smartness not bookish like Hermione.

Infact some of the scenes and lines of Hermione in the movie were of Ron.

I'm in hospital getting tests done due to chest pains and feeling horrible on and off for a few days. Not sure if I've developed a panic disorder out of the blue, or if it's my heart. Hopefully not the latter.

I hope it's panic attacks as I could learn to deal with that. If it's my heart, well I don't fucking know. Scary times.

Keep your chin up buddy and all the gang in here will be thinking about you, think positive and never think negative, I have been in hospital twice in the last 3 years but I always thought positive and I am back home now and doing well. :)

He said my heart is fine but I need to cut out sugar, eat better, sleep better and I'm guessing the weed doesn't help. Due to the extreme worry lately and anger, it must have started off panic attacks. But it feels like you're dying as the pains in your chest are awful. Your legs turn to jelly, you have tremors throughout your body and then you go into panic mode and think you're dying. I never realised they were THAT awful. I'd never suffered one before. Scary shit.

Thanks for the messages people, I just need to stop getting wound up, angry and stressed, this is my issue it appears.

There's been alot of changes in my habits in the past 2 months from eating, drinking and sleeping. I've also found myself constantly moaning and getting snappy, so it does make sense.

I keep thinking today is Sunday.

Same. It's got to that point where it's just chilled and quiet. It definitely doesn't feel like a Friday night!

Fuck man, sounds rough. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hopefully they can diagnose it quickly and provide the right treatment. Hopefully it's not COVID?! Get well soon anyway mate.

It turns out it must have been panic attacks, which have the same symptoms as heart attacks, which is why I was shitting myself. The pain also lingers on an off but is in areas you associate with more serious physical health conditions. It randomly came on while simply watching Tele at midnight or so the other night, which was weird.

It's not covid though mate, I've had none of the main symptoms and I've never even thought of it being that, but potential heart attacks or a stroke. Scary, but it feels alot more dangerous than it actually is from a physical perspective. The symptoms are similar to a heart attack or heart failure which was the scare.

I'd never had them before nor ever thought I'd be prone to them. I would say I've always had a bit of anxiety as I'm always a bit fidgety and hyper but it's not something that affects me in public, I mean I wouldn't go to camp nou on my own, for example, if it did. I do like chilling in, but you need a balance, even if it's just working all week. I always associated these attacks with someone who is agoraphobic.

I think it's the opposite for me and  being stuck in the same house too much drives me nuts. I've been lazy for 2 months and sat in alot. This along with a change in sleep pattern, thinking too much and getting wound up all caught up on me. It happened 3 times in 3 days before I went to the hospital, as I thought my heart was packing in. The shock from the first caused the second 2 I think as my mind was racing.

What I would say, is chill out, don't let issues going on wind you up too much and look after yourself. I've noticed @RandoEFC getting wound up alot in recent months and I would say relax because you could cause yourself alot of unneeded stress.

@CaaC (John) the problem with many of us men is actually going to the hospital in the first place. We'd do anything to hold it off, but if you go, they can make you better, or in my case, reassure you.

I can see why you're saying that but I don't need worrying about. If you met me in person you'd see I'm actually incredibly chilled out and while I get passionate about stuff on here be it Everton, politics or teaching stuff I'll say what I think but I'm lucky enough that when I put it down it doesn't stay on my mind. I'd be more stressed if I didn't get on here and get it all off my chest to a bunch of people I never meet in real life to be honest.

Obviously only you know your body but one of the key things for managing panic attacks for me is knowing the panic attack normally starts at the chest pains and not a few symptoms after, being able to sleep through a chest pain when you’re certain it’s nothing to worry about is a good skill to help quash them imo, but again only you will know your body and that might take a while to learn. For me one thing my late 20s taught me is the difference between having a heart attack and needing a shit and a lot of the time I’ve probably not eaten well or been managing my body and it eventually builds up into chest pains.

Yeah that's exactly what it was.

When you do the equivalent of miles and miles walking everyday due to work(since you run around like a cunt), to 100 meters to the shop at most and you don't eat as well as normal it is a big change. I usually eat alot more but I wasn't for some reason in recent days. So it makes sense mate. But I can't stop eating again now.

It all came from the pains. That's what started the panic. Now I know the cause, the worry has gone now, so have the pains. Amazing what a heart scan and blood pressure test can do for you. The relief. I think they may have passed now.

@Teso dos BichosBichos sold me some dodgy weed:-

Nah but I wouldn't say it was that, but likely induced it aswell after some shit weeks. I don't smoke as many ciggies now, don't drink anymore but a nice smoke chills you out at night. Lockdowns make it easy to overboard though.

There was a maths teacher at my secondary school(actually taught by mother as well, so he was from the canning days...) and he used to start headbutting the blackboard. So I always worry about maths teachers .

Glad it turned out “okay” @Carnivore Chris. Look after yourself. I think I burnt out a couple of months ago with work and life. It reached the point of being very negative and snapping at my bosses and resulted in me breaking down in front of one of them. It all became too much. I took way more on than I should have been and I also bottled stuff up and didn’t seek support from others which resulted in an out of the blue moment or two. I also later developed a lot of physical symptoms that I’m still getting over but all testing I’ve had have come back fine. Stress and anxiety can have serious implications and we all need to take time to reset or switch off. I use this forum as an outlet I guess, sometimes going off and being angry at little things which I am not usually like in person. It’s quite a realisation that maybe all hasn’t been too well in the past.

I have so many good things ahead of me and now I’ve moved into my very own home with my partner, I’m hoping this further helps me.

Didn’t intend to post the above, but it’s important to just get things off the chest every now and then.

The physical symptoms are awful as they make you feel as though you're dying, which then makes the mental side 10 times worse. Sorry to hear about what you've gone through but these issues can be solved mate.

The first time I was taken to the hospital over 3 years ago was for an infection or virus that was affecting my asthma, I wondered why they had put me in a heart ward and only found out from the heart specialist although I had a virus affecting my asthma they found out I had a heart failure condition, apparently, you can be born with it and just let it carry on, I would get heart flutters in my chest but I never thought anything about it over the years and even when I was working,

They then shifted me into the asthma ward but to this day I have 8 packets of tablets I take because of the heart failure condition, but I don't have to if I don't want to, there is an old boy up the road, 92 years old and he said he has a heart failure condition and he was born with it (heart flutters) but he has never taken any tablets and just gets on with life and he is carrying on as normal, a lovely old guy but he always thinks in a positive way concerning life and never thinks negative.

The second time I ended up in the hospital was because of a collapsed left lung, I had to have an operation because the lung had a blister on it and it burst, they had to seal it with whatever, I asked the doc who operated what caused it and he asked if I smoked and I said yes then he said that was more than likely caused it, I smoked the occasional roll-up now and then and some hot ash must have got into my lung and caused the blister, I have never smoked since, 3 years without a cancer stick.

@Carnivore Chris I used to get them years ago mate and they’re fucking horrible. Speak to your GP about possibly getting some CBT. I can relate as you genuinely think you’re dying. However, your body has about 10/15mins of pumping adrenaline before it runs down so it will always end. I used to try focusing on a clock and slowing everything down.

Have seen “grounding” or tuning into your senses using a 5,4,3,2,1 method work for anxiety attacks. Helps having someone with you for this though.

The worst is you worry between them and it starts them off. You also feel like you have a hangover after it. Then the pain lingers a bit, you continue thinking about it, then have another. It's become a vicious cycle in the last 4 days or so, which came out of the blue.

I'm going to go and see my GP next week if it's possible as it's difficult to get a doctor's appointment these days.

Glad you got over them mate, as they are horrible.

That's one of the biggest problems, smoking. It's a terrible habit, but very easy to start when you're a teenager and then it's stuck with you.

I actually had a mate whose lung collapsed when we were only 20 years old or so, but he was ok in the end never had any other problems. Funnily enough, he was one of the only ones who didn't smoke. He surely drank though, as he had me smuggling bottles of beer in for him when he was in hospital...

Bloody hell, I hope you’re on the mend@Carnivore Chris . Always here man if you ever need a chat, as always!

Weirdly I’ve had similar recently where they thought I was having panic attacks but I didn’t think I was. I’ve had really bad chest and stomach pains and I’ve been to the hospital several times. I think mine is more diet related  e.g - cut out crisps and less takeaways and more fruit and veg. But I’m no Doctor.

They still haven’t pinpointed mine and are unsure what it is. Whether it’s GERD or Gastritis or an irregular heartbeat or something else completely. The mother of my child is adamant that I have an irregular heartbeat as she told me for years to get tested and pursue it as when we were laying in bed at night she always used to say my heart feels weird.

I have tests coming up, from Gastrocopy to Cardiologist to stress tests to 24 hour ecg. I think I may have an irregular heart beat as the palpitations I’ve had have been bad and resulted in hospital trips. The fact my Dad died at 39 from Heart related diseases at such a young age is obviously a worry for them and have pushed them forward with testing. My Grandad also died from heart related issues, but he gave a much longer innings and lived till his 80’s.

Hopefully it’s just diet related and I can manage it all myself.

The frustrating thing is... 2020 is the best I’ve finally been at peace with life and truly happy. I sort my mental well-being out after many years and then the physical side of me says...... ey you cunt now it’s our time to test you.

panic attacks

I only ever had one of them and for the life of me I didn't know what it was when it happened but because of that, I found out I had asthma and COPD.

Going back to 2003 when I was not working and had been made redundant AGAIN and was down in the dumps, got up early to nip up the shops and this was during wintertime and the hall lights in the stairway had gone off (the timings were fucked up) as I was approaching my flat door I was suddenly gasping for breath, I was fumbling around with the keys trying to open the flat door, couldn't find the keyhole slit so I just banged at the door for the wife to let me in.

In short, she panicked when I said I could not breathe and thought I was having a bloody heart attack, started crying whatnot, called the doc out and he gave me some oxygen and said I think you have had an asthma attack which made you panic, make an appointment with your doc and get checked out which I did confirmed I had asthma and COPD and that's me on my pumps now forevermore until I depart to the wild blue yonder.
