One morning he wouldn't drop what a previous speaker said that people were petitioning to allow boys as young as four to wear skirts to school if they wanted to. Even when the conversation moved on to elephants he was enquiring about if we need to be careful if the elephants would be offended by any gender specific terms. To me he had a point. Those people that think a four year old should be encouraged to wear skirts to school to me are the definition of snowflake. As is those who have got the name Dennis The Mennace changed to Dennis, as is those who encouraged Thomas The Tank Engine introduce steam trains of various genders and ethnicities, they're steam trains in a children's television show for fucks sake. The definition of being snowflake and being PC however is far different. Advising people that you can't call people that are homosexual certain words, or you can't make racial or anti semetic comments on a social media platform isn't being snowflake and being pulled up on it on a social media platform this size will happen. If twitter had the manpower to cut out the trolling to the level where people make jokes about rapeing Rebekkah Vardys daughter I'm sure they would. I see places like this as "If you wouldn't say it where your employers would hear you, why would you say it here?" Which is what all open forums have to be like. I accept that each background differentiates. The people that made those comments to Rebbekah Vardy I mentioned were loyal Manchester United fans from India and couldn't be prosecuted. In the UK we have somewhat moved our stance massively in the last five years. I remember as recent as 2013 Crystal Palace would sing "we scored five you scored none Brighton take it up the bum" to Brighton fans. That song was more about pissing Brighton off that in 2002 that game started the 'Andy Johnson Era' as he was new to the club, scored a hat trick, and it kicked off a beautiful era in our club. But last month we didn't dare sing it because of how distasteful it is and the media backlash it would receive. We just stormed the gates without tickets instead. I think anybody in the UK here agrees that the society were creating is too far. Police aren't allowed to protect themselves from people who are spitting as it's too 'inhumane', the head of the fire service is trying to get the name of 'Fireman Sam' changed, and phases such as the nitty gritty are being reviewed. That's all snowflake. Were far from a perfect culture by all means and I wouldn't want German, Australian, American etc members feeling like there's segregation here. As far as im concerned this country is fucked. But all members just need to bare in mind the 'employer' theory on all social media platforms as anybody can read it. Today's laughable story involves Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, who decides to have her hair in dreadlocks/braids and posts it on Instagram. Its tricky because black culture often gets taken and sold in the media as a white phenomen, I.e. Kim Kardashian attributing braids to Bo Derek rather than black people, ditsy white girls wearing bindis to festivals when you know some of them have probably called someone a p*ki or made curry jokes, bud bud ding ding etc...but at the same time you can't be annoyed when someone genuinely just likes the hair do. Thats the problem with Twitter is that it doesn't take the general consensus into acct, normal people won't be constantly tweeting about things and normal people would probably just bypass the discussion of should the white girl from a girl band wear braids because most people will have an each to their own mentality. One of the people I drink with regularly at my local has dreadlocks and is basically a harmless hippy that loves everyone.
