Results - Gameweek One

Casualties (7)

It's been a long season lads, and I simply can't be arsed searching for GIFs and writing clever prose now. Probably nothing to do with this week's pile of 40 reports that need writing :coffee:. Here are this week's losers:

@Cannabis, @Azeem and @Lucas are all out, having backed Sevilla to beat Huesca. A late equaliser for Sevilla followed by a disallowed goal in injury time led to heartbreak for these three amigos, and it was Huesca who went down the other end and nicked a 2-1 victory.

@Spike is out, having unsuccessfully backed Villarreal to beat Alaves. The Yellow Submarine goes from bad to worse this season and still find themselves sat in the bottom three.

@Batard, @JOSHBRFC and @Panna King are all out having backed Real Betis to defeat Getafe. Betis could only muster a single consolation goal after falling 2-0 down to their high-flying opponents in the first half.

Commiserations, folks. You are out of this round of the Last Man Standing League, and score a whopping 0 points.

Survivors (12)

We're already down to just a dozen players this week. Here are the happy bunnies following this weekend's Spanish action.

@RandoEFC, @Eco, @The Palace Fan, @Stan and @binder all successfully backed Espanyol to beat Real Valladolid. The hosts survived a scare as Sergio Guardiola missed the opportunity to put Valladolid ahead from the spot, and went on to secure a 3-1 win with two second half goals.

@DeadLinesman and @Rucksackfranzose survive to week two, as Valencia dispatched Athletic Bilbao in a relatively comfortable 2-0 win.

@...Dan and @Viva la FCB had to wait until Monday night to have their route to the next set of fixtures secured, Leganes delivering a 1-0 success over Levante, putting Viva in particular into a great position to move to the top of the league in Lucas' absence.

In the only head-to-head fixture of the weekend, @CaaC - John and @StefBWFC triumphed over one of our resident Aussie's as Takashi Inui found the decisive goal in their 2-1 win at Villarreal.

Finally, @Bluewolf's eleventh hour entry resulted in success, as Atletico Madrid took a 2-0 win of their own at Real Sociedad, leaving the veteran Chelsea fan with the unfamiliar feeling of being grateful for a match-winning two-goal Morata performance.

Congratulations to all 12 remaining contenders. You can now progress to Gameweek Two with 1 point already in your back pocket.

Preview - Gameweek Two

Below are the fixtures for Gameweek Two with odds included. Remember, you cannot use the same team twice so pick carefully. Games start on Friday night so the sooner you get your pick in, the better.

Athletic Bilbao (1.90) vs Espanyol (4.33)

CD Alaves (2.75) vs Eibar (2.55)

Atletico Madrid (1.44) vs Leganes (7.50)

Barcelona (1.16) vs Rayo Vallecano (13.00)

Getafe (1.61) vs Huesca (6.00)

Celta Vigo (2.30) vs Real Betis (3.10)

Girona (3.10) vs Valencia (2.30)

Levante (2.80) vs Villarreal (2.45)

Sevilla (1.66) vs Real Sociedad (4.50)

Valladolid (6.50) vs Real Madrid (1.44)

Unlike last week, this set of fixtures offers a lot of clear favourites, Barcelona at the forefront of them with Real Madrid, Getafe, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla all odds on to succeed as well. You're spoilt for choice really!

My pick for Gameweek Two is Barcelona.

Good luck!

Can't even be arsed breaking it down, everyone survived this week. Please make your picks for Gameweek Three from the fixtures below and don't use the same team twice!
