When it comes to watching, the whole build-up to the act is usually more interesting than the act alone: a woman traveling to the middle east to rescue her sister from a wealthy sheikh who kidnapped her - only to find that it was her husband who sold her, a woman unknowingly having an affair with her boyfriend's father who she meets at work, retelling of Tarzan and Jane's story, etc (Those are actual plots of 3 of my favourite movies). It's way better than a woman sitting on a couch stating her name, age and then proceeding to strip and have sex, where she frankly looks uninterested or disgusted. Let's be honest, unless you like the pornstar (or a certain position) you pretty much fast forward through the act.

I thought the only appeal was the race track experience; i.e. getting shitfaced on beer and stuffing one's face with junk food while smelling the rubber burning and listening to 800HP beasts roaring around the track. most southern states only have college teams/very few pro sport teams and nascar was a cheap option and majoroty were southern drivers. I grew up seeing the older generation have a favorite driver and even if they didn't watch it much , they kept up with the driver and heard it via radio as the live experience went to hell. It went from a family friendly event to white trash girls flashing their tits and younger folks just tailgating for a couple days to get fucked up. I have watched a few races, mainly Daytona, but never completely.

Eco
Sweets and in particular, Chocolate. The smell of melted fudge makes invokes my gag reflex and makes me nauseous. Pork, and more specific is bacon. Never had too much taste for it, and honestly my stomach never feels right after consuming it. Barcelona - Everyone I've spoken with loves the city, but while I have only been there once, it wasn't exactly all what it was talked about being. Animals - I have a dog (wife and I got together) and a cat (wife had before we met), and while I don't despise either of them, I do get annoyed with the amount of money they take up, and the general energy it takes to be a good pet owner. Lucas
Instagram, sadly. Originally, a great idea. No need for words like Facebook/Twitter, just pictures. Easy and effective. A picture says a thousand words and can be just as powerful. Problem for me is I feel Insta has moved away from what it was and become a very image-focused platform, to the point it can provoke feelings of inadequacy and anxiety in people. Not to mention, be extremely offensive and give off false expectations of reality. It feels like it's more important to have a strong selfie game or portraits of yourself posing like a prick, than actually capturing the beauty of what really matters in photos. You see it all the time with Z List Celebrities who the younger audience relate to, trying to imitate them. Just recently come back from Cyprus and had to wait nearly 15mins to take one particular picture because some girl had to have around 30 or 40 pics of the same scenery around her whilst she posed. She doesn't care about the scenery, she cares about what she looks like in the picture because she wants her Insta profile to look amazing and gain a thousand likes. All I want is her off the fucking rock so I can take a shot of what is naturally beautiful in front of me. I was also at a waterpark. Had a great time. I was on a lazy river with my GF enjoying the moment and some bird was there, all on her own, with a selfie stick and her phone, trying to pout and take a picture with no one in the background which she would no doubt have uploaded to Insta, filtered the shit out of it and no doubt attached a comment like "Happy Vibes" when her face actually looked like a smacked ass and she wasn't with anyone. I've even seen pictures of people posing in places like concentration camps or cathedral's just to get a few likes. Really?? Where's the fucking respect? But that is the exact thing I'm getting at here with Instagram. It's like it has changed from being a friendly environment, where most people post amazing looking scenes from holidays, hobbies/experiences, or even plates of fucking food, to a competitive social platform people filter out their lives to represent one that doesn't exist. Nobody looks good all the time, nobody is always so happy. But the pressure for people to show their best side of life seems to be high such is the influence of Instagram. Nobody looks good all the time, nobody is always so happy. But the pressure for people to show their best side of life seems to be high such is the influence of Instagram. I used to post on instagram semi-regularly but these days I only use the story feature tbh. All I make proper posts of now are trips and important occasions, if I even bother to. To touch on the concentration camp thing, it's actually become a recurrent issue at Auschwitz for example. Also with the Jewish History Museum's memorial in Berlin, since it's quite artsy and abstract, so I guess it looks cool to pose around. I don't think it's something to be puritanical about - these places are first and foremost a place for memory and education, so it's natural to want to take photos. When I visited Buchenwald, I took some photos. The line I think is when you feel the need to broadcast that you have been to one of these places, and then worse, to centre the experience on yourself as opposed to the place itself. Taking a photo of the Auschwitz gates, is alright in my opinion. Posting it on Insta, is a bit crass and unnescessary. Posting a photo - with yourself in it - of the Auschwitz gates, is downright weird and insensitive. Having photos of yourself smiling is simply sociopathic. When I was at Buchenwald, I felt quite hesitant and embarrassed to take any photos. I knew I wanted some for my own memory and to show my family, but I did it quickly, discreetly, and got it out of the way. The idea of taking a selfie or asking my friend to get one of me was unthinkable. Certainly at no point did I feel like smiling. I felt nauseated most of the time tbh. I agree on insta but personally snap chat has been amazing for me. I use it to send photos and little videos of the kids to their grandparents and aunties and uncles. There is a group set up of those people to make it easy. Then when the grandparents have the kids for a day they post little things to that group as well so I can see them in my break at work or on the evening commute.... I am grateful to have that available and think it's been a great development.
