Is Harry Kane Worth £200m?

Recommended Posts

Quote

Bookies have cut the odds on Tottenham striker Harry Kane, 23, signing for Manchester United from 20-1 to 6-1. (Daily Star)

However, Spurs have laughed off United's interest in the England international, with chairman Daniel Levy valuing Kane at close to £200m. (Independent)

How much is Kane worth? Would you want your club to pay £200m for him?

Well you know what's going to come out of this... He's priced like that because he's English. Absolutely not worth that at all because then we have to make comparisons with others and what they should be worth.

Of course he isn't but he is priceless to Tottenham which is reflected with this inflated asking price.

The only way he will leave Spurs is if he's in the last year of his contract and tries to hold the club to ransom, there's no way Levy will let go of his prized asset on the cheap.

Nope. But obviously Spurs doing the right thing to deter clubs from bidding. Smack an unrealistic value on him. Don't blame them.

Both of these....

Ridiculous asking price and hyper inflated, but as above to either deter prospective buyers or mug someone off if they are silly enough to want to try and meet the asking price

Nobody is worth 200m as a signing but to Spurs it probably would take that much money for a sale to be in their interests.

He will be a one club man in my opinion unless Spurs go backwards again and he keeps scoring 30 a season whilst getting nowhere near silverware.

It's not a 'ridiculous asking price' at all, it's a hands off sign. How many players have scored so many in the premier league by his age and his record is fairly decent against the better sides too, unlike Lukaku.

I was a doubter but he can't be denied, one of the top strikers around at the moment.

Club football around the world is measured at European competition level both with elite clubs and elite players. Not saying Kane isn't good because he obviously is, but he is also an enigma on the international scene and only visible at domestic level.

Not true!

There has been players that were world class but never shown it at European Club level.

Alan Shearer.

You really shouldn't judge players on what they have won. Luke Chadwick has more Premiere League title medals than Steven Gerrard for example.

Judge a player on his ability, not on how well the team he played for performed in Europe.

Not until he replicates his club form for England. Shearer was superb for both club and country. Another level to Kane at the moment.

That's what I thought. Imagine what Shearer would be worth in today's crazy market?

Firstly Kane is priceless. No money would it be worth selling him for.

Secondly, I love how myths just get said so much that people start preaching them as gospel.

His domestic record the last three years is extraordinary. 29 in 30 league games last year...that's world class.

Kane scored 2 in 3 last season in the Champions League, he was injured for 3 games. He has an exceptional record in the Europa League.

His England record is better than Shearer's at that stage and I'm in no doubt he will outscore him comfortably for England.

He's bloody incredible and I couldn't love him any more than I do.

I think once he's emulated Shearer's feats at major tournaments, it will be a moot debate.

I can't believe Kane is being compared to Alan Shearer at this stage of his career.

I said Kane is very good already. If he's worth £200m to Spurs, what's Lewandowski worth to Bayern? £700m?

Why not? It's a pretty fair comparison after three season smashing goals in for fun - as I said a better record than Shearer at international level at this stage too.

Why? Awful comparison again. Bayern could replace Lewandowski - we couldn't replace Kane. He's one of a kind for a club like us at this stage. Loves the club, come through the academy and one of the best strikers around right now. That's why he's worth so much to us. We could never afford or attract a striker in his prime like Kane.

Also insinuating Lewandowski is 3 and a half times as good as Kane - it's just not true.
