Gameweek One - Results

A total of 19 entrants for the Italian round of this season's Last Man Standing League in the end, let's see how we all got on...

Casualties (8)

A total of 7 different teams were chosen by our various competitors this week, perhaps the most ambitious pick coming from @CaaC (John) who incorrectly backed Napoli to win at Roma in the first fixture of the weekend. It was Atalanta, though, that caused the biggest genocide this weekend, as their ten men went down with a whimper at home to Cagliari, punting @Storts, @RandoEFC, @...Dan and @Stan out of this round at the first hurdle. Serie A wasn't finished yet though. Genoa were next to let down their backers, with a pair of late goals for opponents Udinese sending @Dan and @Stick With Azeem packing. The conclusion to this very bloody Sunday saw @Teso dos Bichos claimed as its final victim, Fiorentina's fightback for a draw against Parma not enough to sustain his run in this round.

Bad luck chaps and chumps. No points for any of you this round. See you in sunny Spain in a few weeks' time.

Survivors (11)

Saturday was the place to be this gameweek, with the majority of success coming earlier on this weekend. From heavy jokes to some heavy lifting, Romelu Lukaku carried on his shoulders @Eco, @Lucas@nudge , @Rucksackfranzose and @Viva la FCB into the second gameweek with his 92nd minute winning penalty. Juventus were also responsible for a high five on Saturday as @Bluewolf, @DeadLinesman, @JOSHBRFC , @Tommy and @Mel81x correctly called their victory in the Turin derby. Finally, @Pyfish waited until Monday to slide under the proverbial garage door at the last moment, sweating all the way as Sampdoria waited until the 92nd minute to break the deadlock at SPAL in decisive fashion and add an eleventh contender to the next phase of the game.

Congratulations to you all, that's one point on the board. Please move forward to Gameweek Two and prepare to make your next pick.

Preview - Gameweek Two

Below are the fixtures for Gameweek Two, with the first one coming on Friday evening. As always, remember not to pick the team that you already used to survive for this long.

Sassuolo vs Bologna

Brescia vs Torino

Inter vs Hellas Verona

Napoli vs Genoa

Cagliari vs Fiorentina

Lazio vs Lecce

Sampdoria vs Atalanta

Udinese vs SPAL

Parma vs Roma

Juventus vs Milan

Good luck!

Results - Gameweek Two

The survivors are getting whittled down quickly here as week two comes to an end...

Casualties (6)

Some disappointing performances from some of Italy's big guns across the weekend were headlined by Napoli on Saturday evening, as Ancelotti's men fired a blank in their home game against Genoa, putting paid to @DeadLinesman, @Rucksackfranzose and @Mel81x for this round of the competition. Sunday sees a heavier fixture schedule in Serie A, and brought three further casualties, with another 0-0 deadlock between Udinese and SPAL ending this round for Bundesliga champion @Eco and his fellow Udinese-backer @Pyfish. Finally, @Viva la FCB's Last Man Standing renaissance didn't last long. Viva was the only man to back an away team this weekend but Roma's 2-0 defeat at Parma eliminates him from the Italian round this season.

That's one point for each of you this time, with a slim chance of a bonus point for joint 3rd if this round is decided in the next gameweek.

Survivors (5)

Sensible picks were the order of the week for the only five people who have made it through two successive weeks in Italy. @Tommy got the business done early, but not without complication, as Inter were forced to come from behind to earn three points against Hellas Verona at home. A Lazio failure would have seen Tommy crowned champion already, but a Joaquin Correa brace helped them to a 4-2 victory against Lecce at home, and sends @Lucas, @nudge, @Bluewolf and @JOSHBRFC into the third week.

That's two points on the board already for our final five, with a good chance of some bonus points to boot. Congratulations folks, look ahead to Gameweek Three, which will take part after the international break.

Preview - Gameweek Three

Below are the fixtures for the next gameweek, which take part between 23-25 November, after the international break.

Atalanta vs Juventus

Milan vs Napoli

Torino vs Inter

Bologna vs Parma

Hellas Verona vs Fiorentina

Roma vs Brescia

Sassuolo vs Lazio

Sampdoria vs Udinese

Lecce vs Cagliari

SPAL vs Genoa

Remember not to pick a team you've used already. Good luck!

Of course I thought I survived the worse then Napoli decided to be generous and now I am sitting it out. May it long continue for you, these things tend to go quite well once the momentum builds.
